I'm glad to win the football league for many reasons, not the least of which is so that I don't have to hear any trash about why this update is nearly a week late. I'm also glad that I did not play Captain Smoot in the championship game. It would have been brutal to lose by a single point after the Minnesota defense posted a minus one for the week and I failed to get Laurence Maroney in the lineup due to Pittsburgh playing an early game
My lineup:
Tom Brady 12
Willie Parker 0
Ryan Grant 11
Chad Johnson 2
Braylon Edwards 14
Tony Gonzalez 6
Earnest Graham 1
Nick Folk 8
Minnesota -1
There are three ways to get players in fantasy football. Obviously, most players are acquired on draft day but you can also pick up players on waivers and in trades. I think I left draft day with one of the best teams and I supplemented that with waiver pickups Ryan Grant and Earnest Graham and with a late-season trade for Braylon Edwards.
Tom Brady and the Vikings defense (this past week excepted) were the season-long keys for my team. Sure, I got lucky with Brady putting up his monster year, but I think everyone expected bigger things from him this season with the addition of Randy Moss and others, which gave him the best collection of wide receivers with which he has ever played.
And while Brady greatly exceeded expectations, I don't think it completely canceled out the disappointing years of Willie Parker and Laurence Maroney, my top two picks.
Graham and Grant were waiver wire All-Stars and two of my seven waiver picks. That paled in comparison to Sleuth's Stranglers, who made 60 pickups during the season. Cleveland Cosanostra made it to the finals without making a waiver move all season. I'm not sure which of those past two stats is more impressive.
Jerry's Boys has stepped to the plate and written his article on why he stinks at fantasy football. Please click here to read it and give him credit for being a man and paying off his debt to the league.

Post a CommentI won my league as well, perhaps I should join you guys for Fantasy Baseball! Especially if you had some inactive handlers in the football league. The waiver wire also treated me well nabbing Earnest Graham and Ryan Grant, though I had LT and no flex position in my default league. With disappointing seasons from both McNabb and the younger Manning I played waiver wire roulette with both the QB position and the DEF position all year. Warner and Tampa Bay D started on championship day.
Chad Johnson was solid, but some disappointing considering he was my 3rd overall pick. I was glad Brandon Jacobs came on strong at the end of the year (eventhough I used Grant/Graham), just to somewhat justify my 2nd overall pick.
Great wrap up.
i got screwed. you're all mine this baseball season. MINE
Congrats Brian! Celebration Party??? I celebrate the end so that you can write more on other topics. :-)
good job guys. people who picked up all those waiver-wire scrubs won my league too and it bothered me. i mean who would have expected earnest graham to continually do so well with such a mediocre line?
Congrats, Mr. Champion. You need a trophy, or a snazzy title, to own for the coming year.
lol, I'm sure Braylon Edwards got you some crazy #s this year too. Congrats. I'm so in next year!
The football seasons is finally over??? Hurray!
As soon as you start it! And count me in.
So when does fantasy baseball start?
