Almond and Cinnamon Scandinavian Bars

Mary Wensing Dvorachek
1 roll refrigerated sugar cookies
1 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup sliced almonds
1 egg white
1 tablespoon water

Heat oven to 350°F.
Grease 15x10x1-inch pan
Break up cookie dough into a bowl
Mix in almond extract and cinnamon until
Press dough mixture evenly in bottom of pan to form crust.
In small bowl beat egg white and water until frothy.
Brush over dough.
Bake 18 to 20 (or until edges are light golden brown).
Cool

To make in a diamond-shaped. Cut bars into 5 lines (the length of the pan) down length then cut diagonal lines about 1 1/2 inches apart across the width of the pan.
