American Idol Odds and Picks to Win Season 9

With Even Odds, Will Crystal Bowersox Be the Next American Idol?

C.A. Jacobs
Now that American Idol is down to its top 12, who will take the coveted title? Everybody has been talking that Crystal Bowersox is the odds on favorite to beat but will she be able to keep it up until the very end? Many times the front runners don't make it to the final two on American Idol. Some of the theme weeks could prove difficult - think disco - and if she can't make the songs her own, she could be in trouble. Plus Crystal Bowersox has some pretty stiff competition from the likes of Lee DeWyze and Siobhan Magnus. Crystal Bowersox needs to be consistent each week and continue to wow the audience along the way to take the crown. Andrew Garcia was an early odds on favorite when he did his rendition of former Idol judge Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" but hasn't been able to capitalize and build from that early peak. If you're looking to add some fun to your American Idol watch nights, these odds will help you pick well when betting against your friends. (Odds listed are for entertainment purposes only.)

American Idol Odds To Win Season 9

American Idol Top 12 - Crystal Bowersox: even money
Crystal Bowersox has been an early favorite and has done well each week in competition. Her rocker edge sets her apart from the rest of the American Idol contestants. Is this the year an early front runner makes it to the very end? I'd say yes.

American Idol Top 12 - Siobhan Magnus: 2-1
Siobhan is the quirky girl. But a quirky girl with a great voice. Siobhan stands out and if she can keep her vocals strong week after week, she will definitely give Crystal a run for the money. Good bet at 3-1 odds.

American Idol Top 12 - Casey James: 4-1
Casey has done well and has strong odds to win but I think Lee DeWyze deserves this spot more than Casey does. Lee just seems stronger all around to me and I think Casey's allure may wear off as the weeks count down.

American Idol Top 12 - Lee DeWyze: 5-1
Lee has done well each week and has a distinct style that is well liked by the viewers. I think his odds should be higher just behind Crystal. I think if Crystal has a bad week, look for Lee to overtake her in the odds. Lee's chances are good to make it to the final two and possibly steal the American Idol title away from Crystal. Lee's a good bet with 5-1 odds.

American Idol Top 12 - Michael Lynche: 10-1
With his deep voice and likable personality, Michael has been doing well in front of the live Idol audiences. Big Mike also has the back story to get people to vote. He and his wife had their first baby while he was auditioning during American Idol's Hollywood Week. Unable to attend the birth, he listened through his cell phone. Everyone loves a good story like that. Fortunately, Big Mike has the vocals to be credible. Another good bet with 10-1 odds.

American Idol Top 12 - Didi Benami: 12-1
Didi reminds me a lot of Brooke White who was on Season 7 of American Idol. I don't expect Didi to go deep in the competition. I was actually surprised to see her make it to the top 12. But she did extremely well with her rendition of "Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac giving her the votes to make it through.

American Idol Top 12 - Andrew Garcia: 12-1
As mentioned earlier, Andrew was an early odds on favorite to win American Idol when he blew the judges away with Paula's hit song. Unfortunately, it's been all down hill since then. In fact, his "Genie in the Bottle" rendition had many shaking their head and thinking this was the end of the road for Andrew. But Andrew prevailed with the voters and made it into the top 12.

American Idol Top 12 - Katie Stevens: 25-1
Katie is one of the younger contestants on American Idol this year. When Katie made it into the top 12, it was quite a shock especially since it came down to her and Lily Scott, another early favorite. Katie is fortunate to have made it but if she doesn't perform well she'll get booted early on.

American Idol Top 12 - Aaron Kelly: 40-1
Showing a lot of nerves and inexperience the first few weeks after making it into the top 24, Aaron was able to make some leeway heading into the top 12. With comparisons to Justin Bieber, Aaron will appeal to the young tweens that make up the American Idol audience. Pass on Aaron for your bet, at 40-1 odds he might make it to the top 5 but even that would be surprising.

American Idol Top 12 - Lacey Brown: 50-1
Previously making it to the top 50 last year, Lacey finally broke through and made it to the top 12. Her road to the top 12 has been bumpy, struggling to find exactly the write song and the type of artist she will be. Her performance of Brandi Carlisle's "The Story" helped find that niche that she was seeking. Now, will she be able to hang on to it?

American Idol Top 12 - Paige Miles: 50-1
Another one that's lucky to have made it into the top 12 especially after her rendition of "Smile" by Charlie Chaplan, Paige has had a rocky road through Hollywood Week. Paige needs to step it up, and quickly. Paige has a great voice, she needs to do better in her song selections to be an American Idol contender.

American Idol Top 12 - Tim Urban: 50-1
Tim might be the true dark horse of this year's competition. Tim made it into the top 12 guys after Chris Golightly was disqualified. But he struggled early on and looked as if he would be eliminated. But he kept making it through each round and finally wowed the Idol judges last week with his emotional rendition of "Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley. If you like long shots, and one who could surprise you, bet on Tim.
