Bumble Bee Solid White Albacore Tuna

Packed in Water

I don't remember when I made the switch from Star Kist to Bumble Bee but I am sure glad I did. Bumble Bee Solid White Albacore Tuna packed in Water is so much better (in my opinion) and this comes from a tunaholic. I have been known to eat tuna morning, noon, and night for an entire week (I kid you not) just ask my husband. As an adult, I now alternate between tuna and turkey but I still prefer the tuna. The problem is that I am extremely fussy when it comes to my tuna. I do not like opening up a can of tuna and seeing those black parts in it. If I see that I throw the whole thing away or I just give it to my husband (he will eat anything). After experiencing those black pieces way too many times with Star Kist, I decided to switch brands. A friend of mine was having the girls over for lunch and knew how much I loved tuna. She made me a tuna sandwich and I loved it. I asked what brand she used and she said it was Bumble Bee Solid White packed in Water. I ran out that afternoon and bought the four pack. It was the best deal for the money. It cost me $5.99 for four cans of tuna. That worked out to be $1.50 per can. Not exactly the cheapest but it will last a long time.

Taste and Preparation:

Bumble Bee does not taste fishy at all. Oddly enough, I don't like fish. I only like tuna fish. That is why I am extremely fussy about which brand I use. First, I open the can and then I make sure to drain out most of the water over the sink. I mix my tuna with a ton of mayo, I know gross. It's almost as if I have to kill the fishy taste, but with Bumble Bee, I don't have to. I only need to mix it with a little mayo. That is why I like this brand over other brands of tuna. I also make sure to chop up it really well so I don't have any big pieces of tuna. That grosses me out as well. You must be wondering by now why tuna is my favorite food. My husband makes fun of me and always says, "You are cold, but hot". I guess that is the same about tuna, I like it but I don't want to taste it. Make sure before you recycle your cans, you rinse them out well.

Oil verses Water:

Not much to say here other than water is healthier for you than eating something packed in heavy oil. I used to eat chunk light packed in oil. I think back now as to how unhealthy that was. I am glad I made the switch to Bumble Bee and I am glad I made the switch to solid white packed in water. My two and half year old son loves it too. The other night I made myself tuna on a toasted bagel, well guess who ate it, my son. I had to make myself another sandwich!

I opened a can of chunk white albacore and it had the texture of a wet sawdust and paste.

I figured it was the leftovers from cleaning production equipment and threw it away.
