3 of the Most Popular Programs

More and more people are attending college today, including those seeking higher degrees. Doing so opens more doors for those looking for other employment, advancement at a current job, or just hoping to keep a job since jobs are scarce. Getting such education while working full time has been difficult in the past, but the advent of the internet has made it easier. Workers looking to get ahead should consider earning a doctoral degree online.

Business Administration is a good general area for those who want to earn a doctoral degree online. A business degree is appropriate for opening a business, working at the management level in any kind of business or corporation, or even teaching, and a doctorate is often required. Most web universities offer this degree. Required courses typically include general business courses, ethics, and critical thinking. Some require researching a dissertation, and some require residency (taking a certain number of courses on the campus rather than over the internet). The doctorate program will typically cost between $45,000-$50,000.

Education doctoral degrees online allow teachers and school administrators to increase their education, as well. The experience may particularly be invaluable for teachers, since they will learn more about the online learning experience that is sure to be a big part in the future of education. Like the Business Administration PhD, the doctorate in Education is offered through many schools on the web. In contrast, the Education doctorate usually requires more research than that for Business Administration doctorate. Courses are seemingly aimed toward the administrator since they often include classes such as leadership and social theory. A dissertation is almost always required, and many of these colleges require some residency. Costs may be a bit lower than other degrees, starting about $37,000.

Psychology is another popular degree, and the internet allows students to achieve a doctoral degree online. Many of the students I work with for my online job are obtaining their PhD in psychology online. These students take theory and development courses, and they usually must complete a dissertation. Residency requirements are nearly universal for the doctorate in psychology since the colleges often have internship programs. These additional costs raise the price of the psychology PhD to a few thousand dollars above that of the Business Administration degree.

Although costs vary from college to college, getting a doctoral degree online should pay for itself in no time. The online delivery allows you to keep working as you study, saving money on gas and perhaps even books since some courses now work with online books that the student doesn't have to purchase. Attending school full time should allow the doctoral student to finish the degree in two years, although most colleges allow a part-time experience, as well. Additionally, many online colleges encourage students to create their own doctorate experience, choosing from a variety of programs and courses. If you are looking to obtain an advanced degree, getting a doctoral degree online is an option worth considering.
