There were several things about Cox Communications that I liked. First of all, I liked how quickly they worked overall. I called in to ask about their services and to schedule an installation time and everything took me less than ten minutes to do. I didn't even have to wait for someone to answer the phone. What I liked most of all was that there's no contract which is nice considering my present home is only temporary and I'll likely be moving two more times. Cox Communications offered several services, and different packages to choose from, but I was only interested in their cable internet. I was given two options and I went with the lowest one. The sales guy was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
The day that my internet was installed the guy came right on time and did everything in about ten to fifteen minutes. He was also very friendly and explained my modem box to me, and was willing to answer any questions I had. He also explained to me what other services came with my package. The best part was that the modem was only $40, which was much cheaper than renting it out each month.
The downside to Cox Communications was that I found the sales guy on the phone to be very pushy. He kept trying to up sale me. I understand it's their job but you have to know when to back off and take no for an answer. He was trying to tell me that for $40 a month my internet would be faster and I'd be able to watch videos and what not. I told him I wasn't interested but he kept insisting that it would be better than the plan I wanted. He even suggested that I try it out for a month and if I didn't like it then I could "down grade" because he was making commission off of it. First of all, it's not professional to tell your customers that you're making commission off of a product or service you're trying to push on them. Second, it wouldn't make sense for me to sign up for a "better" service and then "down grade." How would I know which is better or the same if I don't start from the bottom and work my way up? I also didn't like that they were charging me a lot just to install my modem when it took less than fifteen minutes. I was being charged extra for something that wasn't even an option to me not to take. I also didn't like that I had to buy my modem because it would've been cheaper than renting it each month. From my past experiences with internet companies I've only ever had to put a deposit down for the modem and I'd get it back when I returned the box to them.
Overall, Cox Communications' services has been good so far. I haven't had any problems with my connection and the monthly service price is very good. I pay around $23 a month, and haven't had any problems with slow downloading or uploading of videos. Despite the annoying sales guy and having to buy my modem, I've liked doing business with Cox, and would recommend them to anyone in the area.
