Easiest Birthday Party Favors Are Done Using Themes of the Season

Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring

When you're always in a rush and living in today's hectic world coming up with great creative ideas for birthday party favors is always a challenge. And if you are like me time is always an issue. And it seems that every idea out there has been invented and re-invented time and time again. However, it shouldn't be difficult or time consuming celebrating a birthday especially with every month landing in a certain season of the year. Having four kids and with each one born in a different season of the year I have made the birthday parties and birthday party favors to coincide with a holiday or celebration in that season.

Summer or Fourth of July Theme - June Birthday

This was always the easiest since there are so many affordable items available for the outdoors and summer months. It is simple to make this age appropriate as well. A shovel and pail located at a local dollar store is cheap and deeply appreciated by the little ones. If a pool party is what you have in mind then a pair of goggles or swim ring will do just fine. I have also created swim bags with lots of summer trinkets in them along with safety tips for the summer. For the older kids a plain white T-shirt or white towel can be done in tie-dye using the red, white, and blue and this could be done prior or as an activity during the party. Flip- flops are always a great quick and useful favor too, these as well can be decorated with just about anything, some glue and old buttons and even tying small colorful balloons to them will make a great activity. The best part is that all these items can be bought on clearance at the end of the summer, after all the birth date never changes so most of these things can be saved for the following year.

Fall or Halloween Theme - October Birthday

Pumpkins are a great way to celebrate the fall birthday party. With some markers and a safety carving knife the kids can decorate their own favor and put them out on display. Again this is another great time to invest in white sweatshirts off season and save for the following year and apply the same strategy of tie-dying. One of the best favors I gave out during this particular season was candy apples. During apple picking season pick up a few extra and make it your own family project to make them into a sweet treat and hand them out during a birthday party. The kids will love it and if it can be done at the party itself that will make it taste even sweeter. I have found that children and adults have so much more fun in creating their own personal projects as a favor. It gives a sense of feeling extra special, but if the activity is not allowable these projects can be done prior, and personalizing it with a name or a logo can give the same personal touch.

Spring or Easter Theme - April Birthday

Easter baskets or stuffed bunnies are a great way to celebrate in the spring. Most of these can be found at the dollar store very low-priced and with little time involved other than going out and purchasing. If Easter falls in March as it will this year then again a lot of spring trinkets can be found on clearance for that April birthday. An egg hunt filled with candy or health snacks and even hiding the favors can also be incorporated as a fun activity. Chocolate bunnies can be gift wrapped and given with a small thank you card was always a good and quick idea. Coloring eggs is a great way to also let the kids make their own baskets and to keep as a favor for that special day.

Winter or Christmas Theme - December Birthday

This is the best time of the year to incorporate hot chocolate into any party favor. A quick and easy idea is to buy cheap mugs and put a packet of hot chocolate with marshmallows in it and attach any type of Crazy straw to it. This can be put in small winter themed baggie and a winter favor has been created. Santa hats or stockings can be given out and if wanted they too can be incorporated into an activity with glue and glitter or just glitter pens and a personalized favor can be created. Another great favor that is inexpensive and a fun activity are to decorate pine cones to use as a holiday ornament. With some glitter and paint the favor will be done uniquely to that kid's personality. I have even had the kids decorate winter gloves bought inexpensively, with permanent markers they can label and draw on lightly colored gloves, mittens or hats. Decorative winter themed pails and cookie jars can also be used by filling with candy or snacks, even making a pencil case out of it can be done. At the end of this time of year is the best to buy any left over holiday items to make into birthday party favors for the following year.

So you see birthday party favors do not have to be very creative, difficult or expensive. If you look around today I am sure that there are cheap inexpensive items that can be purchased to use as a favor or activity, and still be slightly unique to the plain old goody bag without having to invest a lot of time or energy in making or preparing.
