Okay, once you're an experienced nurse and your interested in becoming a traveling nurse, your next step is to locate an agency that is the right match for you. This can be done by taking a look at several agencies and comparing the different benefits and bonuses which are available to you. Once you have found a few agencies that appear to be a close fit for your needs, then the next step would be to contact the companies on your list and request more information. It would also be a good idea to ask for references from other nurses who work for them . You can ask other nurses if they have any issues regarding when and how they are paid, ask questions about the benefits and bonuses the agency claims to give you. It is important to check references because the agency you choose will be representing you to the hospitals you will be working for.
Once you have decided on the agency of your choice and your application has been hired, the next step will be to decide on where you wish to work. Your agency will give supply you with jobs that they have available in different states and will work with you to find the right one for you. Job assignments will vary. So you may want to take the length of the contracts into consideration. Do your research and choose carefully because there will be contracts to sign. When considering placement you will want to consider

2. The duration of your assigment (length of time)

Becoming a traveling nurse is a decision which should only be made with careful consideration. You will be signing a contract anywhere from three months to two years and it may be difficult to get out of the contract if the situation does not work out for you. It can sometimes be difficult starting a new job in an area unfamilar to you and with family far away.
If your able to find the perfect job setting in a location you love then you may be able to extend your contract with the facility you work for. Sometimes when a certain facility is happy with you, they may want you to stay on full time.
