His Throat was Slashed

It has been reported by The Houston Chronicle that a Texas death row inmate, Jesus Flores was found dead in his cell Tuesday morning, and pronounced dead shortly after 5:AM. Flores was found by a corrections guard early Tuesday morning, with his throat cut and was covered in his own blood. The Houston Chronicle reported that Flores tried to write a note in his own blood on his cell wall but the note was not readable. Another inmate Michael Johnson allegedly committed suicide at the same unit in October of 2006. Johnson also wrote on his cell wall with his own blood, the words, "I didn't do it."

Flores was convicted for the murder of a 35 year old Sheriffs deputy Joseph Dennis, In 2001. Apparently Flores had stolen a family members car, and the family member reported it stolen. After the police officer pursued Flores, he was shot in the head with a concealed weapon that Flores had under his coat.

Flores was 18 years old at the time of the crime, and 19 when he was sentenced to die for his crime. Inmates at The Polunsky death row unit have gone on hungerstrikes strikes to protest the conditions on deatExteme Exteme isolation and poor nutrition and health care were among their complaints. They claim extreme isolation and lack of human contact causes depression and other mental problems.

Texas as well as the rest of the nation has put a halt on executions since the Supreme Court is reviewing whether lethal injection is indeed cruel and unusual. The three drug mixture is said toexcrutiatingtiating pain while the drugs flow through the vein and causes a burning effect. More on lethal injection can be found here:

Texas has executed more inmates since the reinstatement of the death penalty than any other state and is sometimes referred to as "The Killing State".

Yes, J Flores was a person, and for every one that said "thats sad" or "poor thing" Maybe you guys can let a death row inmate out to live in your home so they wont have to stay on death row? your kids may like that too!

I wonder where he got the item that he used. I heard it was a razor blade, but don't quote me on that.

I have witnessed inmate who hurt themselves, it boggles the mind sometimes. The State can't watch everyone of these inmates everyday 24 hrs. a day. We simply can not afford to do that. It would be an impossible task. As a result some will, unfortunately, slip through the cracks.
