Joe Public to Foot Bill for Attending Church?

In the news reported today, Governor Palin once again, billed the great people of Alaska $639.50 for her air line tickets to attend a religious event. That is right, billed the tax payers for her going to church. Also in 2006, the Palin used $13,000 in taxpayers funds to attend religious events. And yet another $3,022 to attend an exclusive religious event in Juneau. If the Governor so feels it is the tax payers who are to foot her bill to go to church, whenever it maybe, who is to say she won't be doing that in the White House? I should, or no other tax paying citizen have to pay for another person to attend a church. Religion is something, that no tax payer should have to pay for any elected official to practice, or attend Church. That falls under their own free time, free choice to practice their religion, NOT an obligation to the country or the people.

As stated in the article written by Garance Burke from Associated Press, "The Palins billed the state an additional $10,094 in expenses for other multi-day trips that included worship services or religiously themed events, but also involved substantial state business, including the governor's inaugural ball and an oil and gas conference in New Orleans. Palin also submitted $998 in expenses for a June trip to Anchorage that included a bill signing at Congregation Beth Shalom synagogue, the only non-Christian house of worship she has visited since taking office, according to the McCain campaign."

Now, with all that said, and another quote taking from the Burkes article "An AP review of her time as mayor, from late 1996 to 2002, also reveals a commingling of church and state. " I, myself have read many articles on how religious Palin is. I am sure many seen the videos floating around youtube. And my fear is, if she gets into the White House, noting all the facts in the articles, we the people will be forking the bill for her to attend religious events, and her church, whenever she so feels necessary. She did it to the Alaskans, she probably will do it to us as well. Times are hard enough for people, where is this extra money going to come from for her religious experience? Social Security? Homeland Security?, or any other government run program which we pay into? Or raise taxes and use the excess to fund her trips to church.I can not see, how she can justify this to any tax payer. If she so has done it in Alaska, and threw in some little official business to make it look legitimate, then we all are in for surprise. It surely will happen in the White House.

I have no objections to any person attending church. My spouse and I do so ourselves. My spouse does not bill his company for gasoline to get to church, it could be said it was partial business, as he could be letting people know about money they can save. But the fact is, it is wrong. Any funds anyone needs to pay whether it is airline tickets, rental car, or bike to get to church, is their own responsibility, not Joe Public. Ask yourself, are you willing to foot a bill for anyone, besides yourself, to go to church and have a religious experience?

Thanks again for feed back, as always appreciate it. I think I may have not put it out right. I feel when you go to church, even if on business including elected officials, it is a personal option to attend, not mandatory via government. Church is not government business, but then again she does pledge for votes while attending. Crossing a grey area that is. Church is Church, government business is just government business. EX: my brother who is an executive, travels often, He does not bill the company for him to attend church. That kind of is crossing the line of trust between the company and him. Misusing funds for pleasure. But then it happens alot in the corporate world i suppose. I feel sorry for the tax payers who foot her bill.

Too be fair, both Obama, McCain and Biden signed the 700,000,000,000.00 "relief" bill for Coporations, I think Palen's use (which is legal according to her job role) isnt really that bad.
    It was well written however.
