"King of the Hill" is Canceled

Fox has finally wised up and pulled the plug on its long running animated sitcom "King of the Hill". It is amazing that this show last as long as it did. With Fox moving more and more into the "MacFarlane" era of animated shows, "King of the Hill" was truly way past being must see TV (if it ever was). The show, which premiered in 1997, had a run that was definitely way too long. One of the shows creators is Mike Judge, who is probably better know as being the creator of the 1990's MTV cartoon "Beavis and Butthead". Considering that "Beavis and Butthead" original episodes stopped being made the same year that we first saw "King of the Hill", tells all that need to be known. It's been way too long.

One of the reasons that I am so anti "King of the Hill" is because of another animated show that hit Fox's airwaves in 1999 and was unnecessarily canceled in 2003. That show is of course "Futurama", which now has a new life with a few straight to DVD full length movies. The plug was pulled on "Futurama" even though it was co-created by Matt "The Simpsons" Groening. This tells just how much Fox did not care for "Futurama". Yet they loved "King of the Hill" so much that they seemed almost afraid to even think of cancelling it. Well, at least that has finally ended (and just in time to coincide with the end of the Bush Administration)!

The "MacFarlane" era is of course in reference to the seeming invincibility of "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane. It is hard to dispute that either "Family Guy" or MacFarlane's other show "American Dad" can hold a candle to the continued brilliance of "The Simpsons" or "South Park". However, both shows are better than "King of the Hill" and it doesn't seem as though we will be at a loss for quality animated sitcoms at any time in the foreseeable future.

Right there with you, David. Very bad writing, no facts, and no sense of making a clear argument. Or a clear anything.
