A smaller version of the car called 350 GT was introduced to the market the next year. This car delivered a top speed of 240 km/h. In 1974, another model called Countach was rolled out which could run 300 km/h. The famous Diablo replaced the Countach and it was revealed to the public on January 21, 1990. At the time, the Diablo was the fastest production car in the world. The Le Mans version of the Murcielago R-GT is considered as the fastest Lamborghini model with a top speed of 370 km/h. The company began as an autonomous company and in 1978 Lamborghini filed for bankruptcy. A Swiss based company called Mimran Brothers took control of the company in 1980 and in 1984 Lamborghini was officially in the hands of the Mimran Brothers. Seeking a better financial partner to aid the Lamborghini, the Mimran Brothers met one of America's "Big Three" the Chrysler Corporation. In April 1987, the American company took control of the Lamborghini after paying out $33 million to the Mimrans. Chrysler resold Lamborghini to an Indonesian investment group in 1994. Audi AG acquired the Lamborghini in 1998 and the German car manufacturer is successful in bringing back the Lamborghini fame by producing more exotic cars.
