Mamas Teachings

Mildred Windham
If you'll notice, I like to reminiece a lot, I tried to raise my children like my mama raised me. against their better judgement, I'm sure, but I have got good kids.
Just me and my sister, Naomi and one brother ,Eugene was left at home, my brother Jessie was most often traveling, he was a wanderer.
Mama was very strict on how she thought we should be raised. we were to act like ladies, we were, and still are, after sixty....years, raised holiness., we did not sat on mens laps, we didn't use the word, go pee, It was wee wee, and not said in the front of a man. that was a personal affair, attended to only by self.
our daddy never seen us girls dressing. he never gave us baths, mama said that was a woman thing to raise girls, and I agree, one hundred percent. I'll be the first to admitt, I didn't always obey mamas rules, but I can guarantee you one thing, she was right.
I guess all kids will tempt fate at one time or another, and exericse their bounderies. slip around and do things just to see If they can get away with It. I was no exception. my sister and I have got ourselves Into quite a few scrapes.
Naomi found out my grandma Jones,(who lived with us) dipped sweet garret snuf, daddy dipped levi garret, one night mama and daddy had gone to church and left us home with grandma, Naomi ask If I wanted to try grandmas sweet garret, grandma had let her taste It and It was good. It wasn't grandmas but daddys we got ahold of, we puked our guts out. .after that experience, we never even wanted to see the container It came In. that cured our curosity from that day forth. thank God, because I think to see a woman dip Is the nastiest thing In the world. besides smoking.
This is my thought for the day. God bless till next time.
