Memorial Day greetings
Don't toss them out lightly
Save for the deserving
Who gave all, the mighty
Don't toss them out lightly
Save for the deserving
Who gave all, the mighty
Thank a veteran, yes
But we have our day
Today honor those gone
Who led the way
With the ultimate sacrifice
They answered the call
All gave some
Some gave all

Thanks to you for a lovely idea and poem, Marie.
A perfect Memorial Day poem. Thank you.
Here's me, thanking a veteran. Thank you, Marie!
Very good.
Good job, Marie. I recently went to the Marine Museum in Quantico and spent time with a veteran at Iwo Jima. The main point he hammered home is that everyone says it's about raising the flag, and that was the smallest part of what went into that day. He was a reinforcement that went totally across enemy and US troops in the dark to help the group that had been decimated early on.
I've also been to Pearl Harbor, and did a cruise called 1944 Remembered made up of Pearl Harbor survivors and their families. (This was a press tour. I have had a great job.) These guys were awesome. I'm rarely speechless, but so much of the time I was. They were mild mannered, average guys who did extraordinary things because that's what the situation called for.
Very touching.
Very important poem, will tweet.
