"Milford Valley Farms Cordon Bleu Stuffed Chicken Breasts"

A Product Review

My husband and I get home pretty late some nights so we are always on the lookout for foods that are easy to prepare and ready fast. If they are inexpensive and taste good it's a bonus! Milford Valley makes a variety of Stuffed Chicken breasts that fit the bill. The varieties we have found and tried are " Kiev", "Cordon Bleu", and "Broccoli and Cheese". This is a review of the "Cordon Bleu" variety.

We bought "Milford Valley Farms Cordon Bleu Stuffed Chicken Breasts" when they were on sale for just one dollar each at Hy-Vee. This seemed like a pretty good deal for a quick and easy meal. If you read the (not so) fine print you will see that this is a "stuffed chicken breast with rib meat patty", so it is basically a giant chicken nugget. Each "Milford Valley Farms Cordon Bleu Stuffed Chicken Breast" comes in a blue package with a picture of the product: a breaded patty "pocket" spilling out a creamy cheese sauce. The description tells us that the "Milford Valley Farms Cordon Bleu Stuffed Chicken Breast" is an "uncooked breaded chicken breast with rib meat patty, stuffed with Swiss cheese and ham. So this looked and sounded very palatable.

"Milford Valley Farms Cordon Bleu Stuffed Chicken Breasts" taste very good. The chicken is tender and not as rubbery as a typical nugget, so in that way it exceeded expectations. The breading was bland and didn't add much as far as flavor, but it does add a nice little bit of texture. And the filling of cheese and ham was generous. It was creamy and delicious, if just a but too salty. Overall, this was one of my favorite varieties of "Milford Valley Farms Stuffed Chicken Breasts." (I think this is my husband's favorite.)

The biggest drawback to "Milford Valley Farms Cordon Bleu Stuffed Chicken Breasts" is that they are not great for you. Each one has 340 calories and thirty percent of you saturated fat!!! It also has fifteen percent of your cholesterol and thirty six percent of your sodium. In return you get two percent of your Vitamin A, four percent of your Calcium, four percent of your Iron, eight percent of your fiber, and twenty four grams of protein. So it's not all bad, but not worth the tradeoff in my opinion. Especially as someone with a bigger appetite will probably have to eat a couple to feel full.

So if you are looking for a quick, easy, inexpensive meal, "Milford Valley Farms Cordon Bleu Stuffed Chicken Breasts" fit the bill and they taste very good. Though they aren't as bad for you as the Kiev variety, if you are looking for good nutrition, I'd still look elsewhere.
