Reggie Bush Gives Back Heisman Trophy

Under immense pressure, ongoing investigations, and possibly being embarrassed by having his Heisman Trophy stripped away from him, Reggie Bush decided to take it upon himself to give the trophy back to the Heisman Trophy Trust. Reggie Bush issued a statement through the New Orleans Saints, ".. I know that the Heisman is not mine alone...", which pretty much summed up his feelings on the matter. Heisman Trophy because of the efforts of a large number of people. His team mates, coaches,family, and friends all supported him through college.

During the 2005 season, Bush racked up 1740 yards rushing, and caught 39 passes for 481 yards. His speed and quickness gave the USC Trojans a scoring chance every time he touched the ball. Although only playing in 39 games, Bush amassed 2611 yards total offense.

Before Bush came to the NFL in 2006, reports started to surface the Reggie Bush and members of his family took gifts, which is a violation of NCAA policy. Some allegations stated that as much as $300,000 in gifts and monies were received. The Heisman Trophy Trust is quite clear in its rules that any candidates that are put forward must be in complete compliance with NCAA rules and regulations. Therefore, this is why there was a chance that Bush could have been stripped of his trophy by the trust, This is the first time in history that a college player has been in danger of losing the Heisman Trophy.

Bush was gained immense popularity as a New Orleans Saint, especially in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. He is known for giving his time and efforts to the rebuilding effort in the city and charities.
