Ganz Retires Several New Webkinz

Heather Shockney
Ganz has been full of surprises this month. The latest is that several Webkinz have been retired. No Webkinz is safe from being retired. Several of the Webkinz that have been released in the past few months are now retired. When Ganz releases a new Webkinz, you had better get it when it first comes out. If not, you may find the Webkinz you have waited so long for is retired and nowhere to be found. Here are the newly retired Webkinz.

Retired Webkinz #1 Samoyed Dog

The Samoyed dog was released in May. It was a big surprise to find such a new Webkinz retired. If you find the Samoyed in stores, you had better buy it now. If you pass it by, you might not be able to find it again since it is now one of the newly retired Webkinz.

Retired Webkinz #2 Black and White Cheeky Dog

If the newly retired Black and White Cheeky Dog follows the path of the previous Cheeky Dog it will soon be found on eBay for several hundreds of dollars. This cute Webkinz made its appearance in January of this year. It was a complete shock to see it being retired already. This is one newly retired Webkinz you will want to get right away.

Retired Webkinz #3 Rhino

This newly retired Webkinz came out in May. You would not think Ganz would be retiring such a new Webkinz. Some of the stores that sell Webkinz have not even gotten the Rhino in yet. However, Ganz has decided to shock us and retire the Webkinz Rhino very quickly.

Retired Webkinz #4 Leopard Lizard

The newly retired Webkinz Leopard Lizard came out in April. He was the first of the lizard series. The Leopard Lizard sold out in stores as soon as they arrived. I have not seen any more since the first week they were released. If you want one of these newly retired Webkinz check auction sites such as eBay.

Retired Webkinz #5 Tiger Snake

The Tiger Snake Webkinz was the first of the slithering variety in Webkinz World. The snake was a huge hit and sold out very fast. The Tiger Snake has not been in stores since. It was released in March of this year. If you want this newly retired Webkinz, you will have to find it on eBay.

Retired Webkinz #6 Elephant

This newly retired Webkinz is also the Pet of the Month for June. In case you do not know what the Pet of the Month is, I will explain. Each month Ganz chooses a Webkinz to be the Pet of the Month. When you adopt the Webkinz that is the Pet of the Month, you are given gifts. These gifts include items you can only get by adopting a Pet of the Month. There are also special daily activities for the Pet of the Month in Webkinz World. Hurry and get this newly retired Webkinz so you can take part in June's Pet of the Month activities. These can still be found in some stores since they were June's Pet of the Month.

Ganz has proven that no Webkinz is safe from being retired. We would have thought that the older Webkinz would have been retired before the new releases, but that has not been the case. Make sure you get any Webkinz you really want when you see them in the store. If you wait, you might miss the chance to have them.

Edited to add on June 25

It's sort of funny to think of these young fuzzy creatures as "retired." I guess it sounds better than "put out to pasture." Good info, Heather!

I wish we could retire as fast as the Webkinz do! Great report, Heather.
