These are songs you grew up with and have sung along with in your car, in the shower, and with friends on a long car trip.
In no particular order....
I Saw Her Standing There
"Well she was just seventeen, if you know what I mean....."
The opening line of the first song on The Beatles first album. This one, of course was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. A classic. All of the Fab Four sing on this one in harmony. The guitars ring and sing, Chuck Berry style. If you heard this one now, you'd be singing along at the top of your voice.
Eight Days A Week
The Beatles added another day to our week in this classic from Beatles For Sale, released in 1964. Again, written by Lennon / McCartney.
"Eight days a week, is not enough to show I care....."
A Hard Day's Night
This is the title song of The Beatles first movie, released in theaters worldwide in 1964. All songs on this soundtrack album of the same name were written by Lennon and McCartney. Ringo Starr reportedly gave this song it's name after feeling so tired from performing and making music at the same time.
"It's been a hard day's night I should be sleeping like a log...."
Help!
The title song of The Beatles second movie released in 1965.
" Help! I need somebody. Help! Not just anybody. Help! You know I need someone. Help!"
Eleanor Rigby
A Lennon / McCartney original from the album, Revolver.
"...she keeps her face in a jar by the door. Who is it for? All the lonely people, where do they all come from..."
With A Little Help From My Friends
From Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, this late 60's classic, re-defined rock and roll. The lead vocal is sung by Billy Shears (aka Ringo).
"What would you do if I sang out of tune, would you stand up and walk out on me?..."
"...I get high with a little help from my friends..."
Hello Goodbye
This one was recorded during the Sgt. Pepper sessions and almost made it on that album. Instead, it ended up starting out side two of the Magical Mystery Tour LP.
"You say yes, I say no, you say stop, and I say go go Go...oh no...you say goodbye, and I say hello...."
All You Need Is Love
Another gem from Magical Mystery Tour. The song is based on an actual place in John Lennon's youth in Liverpool, England. The Beatles sang the song "live" to an international audience.
" All you need is love, love...love is all you need..."
Come Together
The first song of The Beatles last album, Abbey Road. The song was also the last time they played live, as a band, from a rooftop across the street from the Abbey Road studios.
" Come together..right now...over me..."
Let It Be
From an album called, Let It Be. The Rolling Stones responded with an album called Let It Bleed.
" When I found myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom...Let it be..."
OK.OK. I said there were ten songs. Here's a bonus for all you super duper Beatles fans (I couldn't leave this one off the list, now could I).
Hey Jude
"..take a sad song , and make it better..."
Although, there are plenty of songs left out (not intentionally), this is a list of songs you know by heart and have probably sung out loud as you read the list.
I hope you enjoyed it and well, go get the cd and put it on. Right now! And start singing along...........................

Post a Commentmy favorite beatles songs ended up being ones they did solo - paul/wings - someone's knocking at the door. once I was standing outside my door with a basket of laundry singing to my husband "do me a favor, open the door and let me in ... oh yeah" Just when he opened the door, someone came by (of course) ha ha ha
Thanks for comments, so far. I'd like to see which Beatle song is your favorite, in the moment, in your comments.
I was a very small child when the Beatles came on the scene...my mom never played Elvis or the Beatles...so I didn't know any of their songs until later...so I don't really have a favorite. Great list though.
aaahhhh yeah....great work here !!!
