Tips for Writing a Letter to Santa when You've Been Naughty

Are You on Santa's Naughty List?

Joshua Huffman
If you are reading this article, you probably think you are destined to a Christmas with nothing but some lumps of coal and a guilty conscience that will linger with you for the rest of your life. It's Christmas, however, and Christmas is a time of forgiveness. Santa Claus will forgive you with a sincere apology.

Follow these tips when writing a letter to Santa Claus when you've been naughty and you may get a surprise this Christmas!

Writing a Letter to Santa When you've been Naughty Tips #1: Writing Utensils
Get a pencil, paper, Santa's mailing address, envelope, and a stamp. If you are writing a letter online, then have your E-Mail ready and type your letter out in a word processing document in case your browser crashes.

Writing a Letter to Santa When you've been Naughty Tips #2: Introduction
Introduce yourself to Santa Claus. Tell him about who you are, why you are messaging him, things about your family, friends, and teachers, what you have done this year, what Christmas means to you, and how you appreciate what Santa Claus does every Christmas.

Writing a Letter to Santa When you've been Naughty Tips #3: Explain your Misbehavior
Santa knows everything, so be upfront with him. Tell him about everything you have done wrong during the year, especially the things that trouble you the most. The first step in not being naughty is admitting that there is a problem. The second step is telling a friend or someone you trust about your problem. Santa Claus loves children and wants to help you.

Writing a Letter to Santa When you've been Naughty Tips #4: Tell Santa Claus the Reason for being Naughty
After you confess your transgressions to Santa Claus, you need to explain to him the reasons behind your naughty actions. Were there any circumstances during the year that disrupted your behavior? Are you angry or frustrated with yourself?

Writing a Letter to Santa When you've been Naughty Tips #5: Ask for Forgiveness
After explaining your naughty actions, ask Santa Claus for his forgiveness. Being the holiday season, Santa Claus will forgive you if he feels your apology is genuine and sincere. If Santa Claus thinks you are only doing it for materialistic purposes, then he may be even more disappointed in you. You may not even get coal to sell on eBay!

Writing a Letter to Santa When you've been Naughty Tips #6: Explain how you will change
Asking for forgiveness is not enough; you need a plan of action. Tell Santa Claus how you are going to end your naughty ways. Do you intend to correct the wrongs from your past? Are you going to join some clubs or organizations that will help the less fortunate over the holidays? Will you give something to someone this Christmas? Prove to Santa Claus that your naughty tenure has expired.

Writing a Letter to Santa When you've been Naughty Tips #7: Close
Reaffirm everything that you have said in the letter. Summarize what you have done up to this point and how you intend to change your naughty behavior. Santa Claus will appreciate your sincerity, generosity, and wanting to change your naughty ways.

Writing a Letter to Santa When you've been Naughty Tips #8: Reassure Santa Claus of his Double Stuff Oreos
Going to bed on Christmas Eve night without leaving the cookies and milk on the counter is insulting to Santa Claus. It's one of the main reasons he makes the trip; where is he going to get Double Stuff Oreos in the North Pole? The snow can serve as the stuff, but there are no Oreos.

Tell Santa Claus that you will make sure that his Double Stuff Oreos are left out. This will put Santa in a good mood. Make sure to not leave him low-fat Oreos or skim milk. This insinuates that you are calling him fat and insult him. He may give you a low-fat piece of coal for Christmas.

Writing a Letter to Santa When you've been Naughty Tips #9: Wish him a Safe Journey and Merry Christmas
It's a long journey that Santa Claus has to make, so wish him a safe journey. You will not see Santa Claus during Christmas, so wish him a Merry Christmas.

Writing a Letter to Santa When you've been Naughty Tips #10: Send
Print out your letter, put it in the envelope, and give it to your parents so they can send it through the mail.

I just love this. I also like that you stressed leaving out the double-stuffed Oreos. That indeed is very, very important.
