First of all, it's important to remember how getting pregnant occurs. Millions of sperm are released. Only a small amount of sperm actually make it into the cervix, and an even smaller amount enters deeper into the female reproductive system. So there are a few things to keep in mind: the amount of sperm entering the vaginal regions, the consistency/quality of the sperm, the length of time that the sperm has contact in the vagina, and the balance of the actual vagina itself.
If you are ovulating, you already know that your cervical mucous has an egg-white consistency. It's very clear, and pretty thick and slippery. If you don't produce enough cervical mucous and must use a lubricant, it's extremely important to use a lubricant that will not negatively affect the PH balance of your vagina. Lubricants that are often used damage the sperm. PreSeed is a lubricant that does not damage the sperm. Lubricant is important if you don't have much cervical mucous because the sperm need a way to travel up to the cervix. PreSeed gives the sperm a chance to not only survive, but thrive, and arrive at their first destination. You can find PreSeed here: http://www.preseed.com/products.php
As far as sex goes, foreplay is pretty vital to increase vaginal fluids. I know that you're wanting to get straight to the action, but the more foreplay, the more enjoyable the sex, and the more relaxed the cervix is. (Also, having an orgasm actually helps relax the cervix as well, which greatly maximizes chances of getting pregnant!)
The best positions to deposit sperm include anything gravity-friendly. The two best are going to be missionary and the awkwardly named "doggy style". These both deposit sperm straight into the cervix. The missionary positions involves the female lying flat on her back. You can put a pillow under your rear in this position to encourage the sperm to flow toward the cervix and have maximum contact time there. As for "doggy style", the female is on her hands and knees when the sperm is deposited.
Something you don't want to do as soon as you have sex is stand up, use the bathroom, or shower. You're going to lose a lot of sperm! It's recommended that you stay in bed for 15-20 minutes after sex to allow more time for the sperm to have contact with the cervix, according to yourtotalhealth.ivillage.com.* You can even put a pillow under hips to encourage a downward flow of the sperm as is recommended for missionary style sex.
Along with good nutrition, timing, and a bit of luck, the sexual position used is quite important to consider when trying to conceive. Remember to try to keep it more fun and less of a chore! It may be hard sometimes in between all the charting, and temperature taking, and ovulation charts, and calendars, but having sex and trying for a baby is about love. Keep the love and fun alive, because stress is a contributor to temporary infertility. Stress can easily interfere with your normal cycle and delay it.
