Maybe You Will Need to Use the Restroom
Just because you want to adore Jesus doesn't mean that you won't need to take a few moments to take care of business. Even if you need to simply wash your hands, you will find that restrooms are available in the new Cross Gift Shop. Make sure to rinse with soap, and don't forget to flush!
Don't Stand Beneath the Cross During an Earthquake
Considering that Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the world, it would be pretty ironic to get crushed by a 19 story cross, but that is exactly what might happen if you're standing too close to the Groom, Texas Cross during an earthquake. While an earthquake is not likely to strike in the Texas Panhandle, you would certainly be flatter than a pancake if the cross were to fall on top of you. It weighs a whopping 2 and a half million pounds. Even if you feel like you need to go on a diet, the cross will still smash you flat.
It's Okay if You're Sleepy
Fortunately for truckers, this Cross is open 24/7. It is well-light at night , and you are free to admire the scupltures beneath the cross both day & night. While beds may not be available, you can sleep safe near the cross. Just don't be surprised in the morning when you wake up to see a gigantic cross towering over you, as well as a few visitors probably looking curiously at you.
You Can't Miss It!
Don't be afraid of taking a wrong turn. If you are in Groom, Texas, you should be able to see the Cross somewhere on the horizon. It is 190 feet tall, and can be seen from twenty miles away. Probably, it is even visible from space. Taller than most buildings, it is definitely not easy to ignore. Surely, it must be a landmark by which every set of directions in Groom, Texas revolves: "How do you get to the feed store? Well, you're going to drive 3 blocks past the Cross, make a left, and turn right at the first light . . ."

So, you should have a clear idea of what to be looking for as you travel.
While many of the images & descriptions of the Cross may seem to render a trip to visit it anticlimatic, this monument is one that is best to experience in person, close-up. It is a place for Christians to express their reverence & even for non-believers to gain insight into the cultural significance of the Christian experience.
