the Void of Loneliness

Emptiness on a Midsummer Night

David Farrell
This one goes out to everybody who's seen the girl of their dreams, or the guy of their dreams, slip away. To everyone who has missed out on that girl or guy of their dreams, to everybody who feels their life hasn't reached its full potential. This poetry goes out to everyone who struggles through pain to enjoy life, those who are hurt, depressed, or lonely. This poetry is for everyone who is lonely in a crowd, everyone who feels the pain as their dreams slip away. This poetry is for everyone who has ever felt the pain resulting from the imperfect state of the current human condition.

I feel my life is slowly stalling,
And now my burdened spirit's falling.
Weighed down and crushed, my soul is crawling,
And now I hear emptiness calling.

I'm fading and it feels pretend,
The pain stings, will it ever end?
I scream; then pray to Jesus, do the cycle once again,
My dreams all fall to pieces, it's like I die again.

Falling behind, I get intense,
Now they can feel I'm desperate.
I start to see it fall apart,
The strain of life betrays my heart.

I'm fading and it feels pretend,
The pain stings, will it ever end?
I scream; then pray to Jesus, do the cycle once again,
My dreams all fall to pieces, it's like I die again.

And now it's all elusive, is it all out of reach?
Tomorrow will delusion let me fall in defeat?

I'm fading and it feels pretend,
The pain stings, will it ever end?
I scream; then pray to Jesus, do the cycle once again,
My dreams all fall to pieces, it's like I die again.

    Your poetry is so sad,
during such a season for renewal too.

I hope you'll soon write happier poetry.
    You are in my prayers.
