1. Orientation. Teachers usually call for parents' orientation before the school year begins. Parents should be informed about the program and policies of the school, They must be aware of what to expect for their kids' academic performance and how they could help them attain success. Parents' inquiries and suggestions should be given proper attention. Teachers who are approachable and friendly make the parents feel comfortable and this will also build their trust and confidence that their kids are in good hands.
2.. Communication. Regular communication between parents and teachers is very important. Teachers should let the parents know the whereabouts of their kids regularly. This would let them feel that no matter what happens, the teacher has concern about the welfare of their kids . They would be able to act right away in any situations their kids are involved because the teacher has close contact with them. Regular communication will encourage parents' support. This is one way to get parents' involvement in school activities. Communication motivate the parents to take an active part in school program and activities in behalf of their kids.
3. . Learn how to appreciate. Parents need recognition for the things they have done. It will motivate them to cooperate more if their effort is recognized. It is really something for them if the teachers appreciate their support. They will offer help without being asked if the effort is appreciated.
4. Be fair and consistent. If the teacher is fair and consistent in dealing with students, parents will feel comfortable. They felt secured if everybody receives equal treatment regardless of economic status, personalty and intelligence. Most parents would want their kids to be treated nicely. They would be very glad to cooperate if the teacher is fair and consistent in dealing with their kids. Teacher should avoid playing favorites. It will create tension and disagreements between parents and himself. Parents will be less cooperative if they feel, their kids received unequal treatment in school.
5. Be considerate. There are times when students can not accomplish their assignments or the task given to them on time. A good teacher should check what is the reason behind. There might be some problems that need immediate attention. Some teachers will be upset when students can not accomplish the requirements on time and they will charge them of being uncooperative and neglectful. Before making any conclusion, the teacher should see to it that she/he is applying the right procedure and principle in dealing with the students' problems. Parents will be glad to cooperate with the teacher if they see that their kids' problem is well taken care of with proper consideration.
Parents and teachers are the key factors for the kids' success in school. If the teacher knows how to deal with the parents and vice versa, It means a lot to the kids and will inspire them to achieve success in school. If parents and teachers work hand in hand for the Kid's success, it makes a difference in the child's life as he deals with everyday challenges in school. Parents will do everything they could for the benefit of their kids because they are their most treasured possessions. Therefore, they will give their full support if it would benefit their kids.
