0prah's Favorite Things 2010 to Air This Friday; Oprah's 12 Day Holiday Give-O-Way Starts November 29th
Will Oprah Get a Little Help from Her Friends on the 2010 Favorite Things Show?
After a two year hiatus from giving away the really big gifts (in 2008 Oprah felt it was wrong to bask her viewers in gifts due to the economy and instead touted homemade gifts; last year she ditched the whole thing altogether) , Oprah is back with her final Favorite Things episode. Her mag touts that this year will have a "humungous twist". We can only imagine what that will be!
So what are Oprah's Favorite Things for 2010?
Audience members are sworn to secrecy after the "Favorite Things" episode tapes, but the December O Magazine may have a few clues as to what Oprah might be giving away this year. Her December O List includes gift picks from some of her posse, too- everyone from Dr .Oz to Suze Orman.
Oprah's Favorite Things 2010- The O List
These items are on Oprah's December O List and are some of the things Oprah may be giving away to her lucky audience members in 2010.
Piggypajamas ($68 with OPRAH code). We all know Oprah likes comfy pajamas, and this year she's found these owl-adorned jammies (she even sent a pair to author J.K. Rowling).
Personalized tray (from $350) This hand painted tray from Two Girls Arts features a picture of your gift recipient's pet (you send a photo when ordering).
Sweet Potato Butter and Ginger Crisps ($9 to $19.50). Oprah likes to dole out the treats and this year two of her faves include LowCountry Produce Sweet Potato Butter and Mrs. Hanes Ginger Crisps wafers. Mmm mmm good.
Life DVD series ($39 with OPRAH code, discoverystore.com). A few years ago she gave away the "Planet Earth" DVD series, now Oprah is digging The Discovery Channel's 11-part "Life" series. She should like it-- she narrated it!
iPad and iPad cover. ($70 to $499). Oprah always gives away a hot techie gadget. This year it could be the iPad from apple (it's on her O List). But to make your iPad even more special, Oprah recommends a $70 iPad cover (twelvesouth.com) that will make it look like an antique book.
Dr. Oz's Favorite Things
Everyone's favorite doc, Dr. Oz touts gifts for body and mind. His gift suggestions include a Nike+ SportBand ($59, nikerunning.com) and silk sleep masks (branchebeautysleep.com). Single Origin Dark Chocolate bars make great stocking stuffers.
Suze Orman's Favorite Things
It's time to show your loved ones the money. That's right, financial guru Suze Orman is all about giving cash gifts- as long as it's done right. She suggests putting the bucks in Chinese envelopes from asianideas.com. Another Suze Orman-endorsed gift is a bath and shower mini oil collection from Aromatherapyasociates.com . And for some words of wisdom, Orman's book titled "Thoughts That Can Change Your Life" (avon.com) may fit the bill.
Nate Berkus' Favorite Things
He may have moved on to his own talk show, but designer Nate Berkus is on hand this year to tell Oprah fans about his favorite things. Nate's favorites include Tiffany & Co. playing cards, which come in a telltale blue box (tiffany.com) and cashmere sweaters from J Crew ($145).
But wait, there's more!
Oprah's 12 Day Holiday Give- O-Way
Oprah is giving away some of her favorite gifts to 12 lucky O Magazine readers. Peruse the pages of O magazine to find the hidden icons throughout the magazine (there are 12 pictures in all). Write down the appropriate code next to each icon (I'll give you an early Christmas gift- the candy cane icon is on page 253). Starting on November 29th you can enter a code once a day to win a selection of gifts from Oprah's Favorite Things show.
To see the complete O List which includes gift ideas from Oprah's BFF Gayle King, Dr. Phil, Valerie Monroe, Adam Glassman and Martha Beck, check out the December 2010 issue of O Magazine.
Oprah's Favorite Things show will air on Friday, November 19th.
