$1 Ink Cartridge Refill on Earth Day at Walgreens

Save Money and Save the Earth on April 22, 2010

Marie Anne St. Jean
Walgreens advertises refilling your black or color ink cartridges for $12.99 and often have a coupon available for $3.00 off that price. This year for Earth Day, they are offering to refill your ink cartridges for only $1.00 on April 22, 2010.

Celebrate Earth Day by refilling your ink cartridge at Walgreens instead of adding another printer cartridge to the landfill and enjoy a real savings on your home office budget. Whether you pay $1.00 on Earth Day or the full $12.99, it's still a great deal. Color ink cartridges are usually more costly than black, so the savings to refill a color printer cartridge is even more significant.

Printer brands with ink cartridges that can be refilled at Walgreens include:

Dell
HP
Lexmark
Okidata
Primera
Sharp
Xerox

Check for specific printer models within those brands here.

I didn't see any reference to the $1.00 ink cartridge refills on Earth Day on the Walgreens website, so I called my local store to confirm that they will be offering this promotion for Earth Day. I was told that since the $1.00 deal for ink cartridge refill is likely to draw a lot of customer attention, the volume of cartridges to be refilled may require a wait of 3-4 days before your ink cartridge will be ready to be picked up. Normally you can expect to get your cartridge refilled within an hour, enough time to finish your errands and pick it up on the way home.

Save up to 20% off inkjet and toner refill kits. You could also save on recycled ink cartridges or toner cartridges, both are really great green ideas.

Tried to get them to honor the ad. They refuse saying my carts were defective. They claim they tested them 4 times. Poor training or just lack of customer service resulted in 3 wasted trips.

Sometimes I wish that I read these things a little sooner. Oh well, we try to be as paperless as possible anyway!

    1) it is not on the list.
    2) EPSON in class action lawsuit for cartridges that dry up quickly.

In thought you replaced Lexmark too. I had that refilled there before.
