1 John Chapter One vs: 1-4

"1:1 This is what we proclaim to you:1 what was from the beginning,2 what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and our hands have touched (concerning the word of life - 1:2 and the life was revealed, and we have seen and testify and announce3 to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us).41:3 What we have seen and heard we announce5 to you too, so that6 you may have fellowship7 with us (and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ). 1:4 Thus8 we are writing these things so that9 our10 joy may be complete." (Quoted from http://net.bible.org/passage.php?passage=1%20John%201:1-4#n11)

This book was introduced different in its own light proclaiming God's glory, authority, and the life in the Word. There is not much that I want to go into about these first four verses yet. I will simply look at them literally. Then I will out line my plan for studying 1 John Chapter One. Finally, I will wrap everything up. So let's begin by looking at the literal verses.

The verses come at you like a straight forward talk about maturity with your child when you are preparing him/her for the world and puberty. They start by saying in my own words, "Hey look, we know that about the Word of Life and the life was manifested, and we tell you that there is eternal life from the Father through Jesus Christ because we were there, touched it, and felt it. It was given to us." It is to the point, quick, concise, and dead on. They are telling us, so that their joy is complete. These men sound like men that were convicted to their thoughts about what they were writing. This is the mind set I want you to have for Chapter One as I begin going through this chapter daily.

God is Light, this is the heading for verses 5-10 at the end of chapter one. I am going to try to do that one tomorrow. Then I will take this book one chapter at a time. For now, let us end with the focus that Jesus is God, and our joy and focus should be found in him. Praise God.

I know this may have seemed short, but the content of the verses are something to think about and hold dear for the day. The introduction to this book might as well be the foundation of Christian faith. Is it not so that we hold dear to the hope that Christ is our savior? Consider this I believe in the verses at the beginning. I believe that Life came from the Father and through Jesus Christ who is God. I re-examine this thought everyday, and it is the one hope that is brings more joy and comfort than any other hope in this entire world. This truth brings peace... What is it you think?
