1 John Chapter One vs: 5-10

"5This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all^[b] sin. 8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives." 1 John is a straight forward book. Reading it almost seems like a condensed meaty version of the gospels and what Jesus has taught. Let me be concise in this point from this section. I don't want to dissect and over analyze because this book is a contextual book that each section is to be able to be broken down into one sentence making an important paragraph.

The first section, verses 1-4 can say, "Jesus Christ is God and has manifested the truth making our joy complete with the incarnate word." Verses 5-10 say something too. Getting to the point, it comes right out and says the message is from God. Be honest and follow Christ because He is the light, the savior, and the righteous one... We are wicked and we need Christ. If this is not true, then we are calling Christ a liar.

How to sum up chapter one? It is quite simple and straight to the point. Jesus Christ is God and has manifested the truth making our joy complete with the incarnate word. We are wicked, and we need Christ, otherwise God is a liar, so be honest following and trusting Jesus Christ who is the light, the savior, and the righteous one because those in darkness deceive themselves.
