Are you looking for some gift ideas that aren't age or gender specific? Don't overlook the value of gift certificates, gift cards and charitable giving. Here are 10 age-neutral, gender-neutral gift ideas for your gift-giving ease.

Gift Idea #1: Bookstore Gift Certificate

Most everyone reads--even children. Why not give a gift certificate from an online bookstore or a local bookstore? Let the recipient select his or her own book.

Gift Idea #2: Nursery Gift Certificate

A potted plant, cut flowers, yard decorations--a nursery has a variety of decorative and useful items that a female or male of any age would enjoy. A gift certificate allows the person to get the gift he or she likes best.

Gift Idea #3: Wild Birds or Pet Gift Certificate

If your recipient has a pet, a pet store gift certificate will be appreciated. If he or she has no pet, anyone can appreciate feeding wild birds--even apartment dwellers.

Gift Idea #4: Clothing Gift Certificate

We all wear clothing. That's why a clothing gift certificate can't miss. Find a store with age-appropriate, size-appropriate clothing and buy a gift certificate. If in doubt about the clothing selection, consider a department store gift certificate. That way if an item of clothing isn't preferred, many different items are available.

Gift Idea #5: Home Décor Gift Certificate

Teens have bedrooms, young children have bedrooms, and adults must live somewhere. A home décor gift certificate is a gift that allows for personal choice. Most people can make room for and appreciate a fun, beautiful, or well-crafted home decoration.

Gift Idea #6: Restaurant Gift Certificate

We all eat. Why not give a gift certificate for a meal? Think about a restaurant that both parents and kids might enjoy. Consider giving a gift certificate to a new restaurant in town or one that's perfect for celebrating an anniversary. Restaurant gift certificates are always used and appreciated.

Gift Idea #7: Technology Gift Certificate

Who doesn't own gadgets? Even children appreciate gadgets found in technology-related stores. Teens adore cell phones, and digital cameras are a hit with all ages. You can't miss with the gadget gift certificate.

Gift Idea #8: Toy Gift Certificate

Toys and childhood go together, but toy stores aren't just for children. Adults love browsing toy stores too. Toy gift certificates can buy anything from a leisurely puzzle to a remote-powered car. Both children and adults can find a fun gift with a toy store gift certificate.

Gift Idea #9: Gas Card or Lodging Certificate

Children don't drive, but a gas card means instant snacks when walking home from school or when riding a bike. Gas cards can buy gas too. When adults need to gas-up the car, a gas card is greatly appreciated. For those who travel by other means, overnight lodging is a perfect gift, especially if it takes a person to a wonderful destination.

Gift Idea #10: Charity Given in Their Name

Sometimes the perfect gift is the intangible one, the one given to a great cause in a person's name. Consider giving a charity gift to a cause that the recipient believes in or supports. The Ronald McDonald House is a great children's charity cause. Another great cause is The Red Cross. A charity gift is one that keeps on giving.

With these 10 age-neutral, gender-neutral gift ideas, you should be able to find the perfect gift for the occasion. You can give a gift card, a gift certificate or you can donate in a person's name.

Charlie, so true. My daughter got a gas card gift before she could drive and she used it to grab snacks after school.

The entire list is helpful but the gas card item intrigued me because everyone can use it. I laughed when I realized how children can use them, and how about a situation where they could help out Mom or Dad by having the card in an emergency gas situation? Talk about a child-hero!
