10 Airplane and Airport Conversation Starters

If you're like me and always travelling to and from job sites, in one airport, through one side of customs and out the other, then the last thing on your mind is talking about the weather! Here is my simple guide to making conversations with that gorgeous guy or that gorgeous girl...

1. How often do you travel through this airport?

This is a typical conversation starter; you're both in an airport for the same reason so you definitely have one thing in common so there's a start. But how often do they travel through here. If you're a national and there just visiting from Dubai, it's very unlikely you will continue this conversation.

2. What would you prefer if you could have anything other than this airplane food?

Ok so you're sitting there on the airplane eating your main meal from a plastic bowl, it smells strong and tastes bland, and you definitely could imagine having a large juicy Big Mac from McDonalds but how about the person next to you? What would they prefer to eat...pizza, seafood....get them started on never ending conversation where by the end of it they will have told you what they have for breakfast, how good their mum's curry is and how they once got food poisoning in a Chinese restaurant!

3. Do you ever get sick of wearing your business suit?

Ok so you obviously get to travel because you look good in a business suit and make good first impressions right? But how sick do you get of wearing a business suit especially in the heat? This is something someone could talk about for hours; they could tell you where they buy their Gucci from, their favourite suit colours and how many matching shoes they have. If you want to talk business, open up about your fashion and this is the perfect way.

4. I've lost my pen; can I borrow yours?

Ok so he's tall dark and handsome and in a suit on his way to another country to do a presentation. He definitely has a pen as he is concentrating pretty hard on his schedule. Pretend you lose yours and then ask to borrow his. He will happy to assist you and then you can ask him what his concentrating so hard?

5. What's the date today, time flies when you're always on the run?

Ok so you pretend you forgot the days date, easy fixed when someone replies, that's when you say, time flies when you're always on the run. This means they will tell you how long they are travelling, where they're going and why?

6. Can I buy you a drink from the lounge while we wait for our flight?

Perfect pick up line when you're tired and waiting in a busy lounge, have a drink to ease your mind and body. Offer to shout them one and you can spend an hour talking waiting for your flights. It can be a make or break, because if they say no, you know they are taken and better luck next time.

7. How to not frighten him away when waiting in an airport lounge?

Don't approach to abruptly, don't be shy and don't be too overbearing. Approach with caution as this person may be married. If you're too loud, you will knocked back so approach with a smile and ask a random question, this will get them thinking...

8. How to find the perfect catch in an airport bar?

Ok he looks rich with his Versace suit, his Italian leather shoes and his gorgeous smile is to die for. You know this guy who is reading a newspaper and typing away at his laptop would be a hard worker and someone you could count on. This is a sign of a smart talented future partner or a really good faker. Look for a ring and if it's not visible dive in.

9. Have you seen anyone famous people in your travels?

Ok as we travel we see stars, like Raymond from everybody loves Raymond, Nancy Cartwright and Sean Paul. But who has the person next to you seen, perhaps someone more exciting. Discuss this with a group of people and you will be surprised by the responses.

10. If you could meet one person in an airport lounge who would it be and why?

If they could meet anyone who would it be and why? Asking this question will give you insight to how they are without the suit. If they say Marilyn Manson, you know this person is not all there, whereas if they say Michael Jackson, they are definitely cool.
