When you think of hair bands you might think of an accessory for you hair but that is not what this term means. A hair band is a type of music that began around the 70's and 80's. These bands are very accessible. The music is more of a high pitch melodic type of music. They have long choruses within their ballads. They can get confused with heavy metal at times but they have made their way to the charts many times.

So who are the 10 best hair bands let's find out? Topping the list is Poison. They were voted number 1 because they have had several chart breaking hits and have sold millions of albums. However Motley Crue pulled in a close second with their great lead singer. Third is Ratt who has a unique sound with the guitars excellent ability to play it funky. Coming in with a close fourth is Warrant. This group was amazing at writing ballads. These ballads were very memorable and easy to remember. Then there is the fifth place that goes to the group Dokken. Despite the fact the two lead guys kept fighting they were able to rock their way up the charts on several songs.

Even thought the top 5 has the most prestige the next 5 deserve their props as well. 6th just happens to be Cinderella. This group has a unique sound combining pop rock with a blues tune. Coming in seventh is Winger. Having the whitest teeth in rock and great guitar ability they were able to play and compose several chart topping songs. Eighth is Slaughter with the lead singer who has a great voice that can not be faked. His high pitch sounds almost like screeching but you know it is real. Despite having several lead singers the ninth slot goes to L.A. Guns. And last but not least the tenth spot goes to White Lion. They deserve this spot because they used their microphone to not just talk about women and parties but to get their voices heard on political opinions as well. They deserve this spot in honor of their social works regarding the world.
