10 Best Non-Traditional Wedding Dresses for 2009

When one thinks of wedding dresses, the color white with pearls, lace, and tulle usually come to mind, not to mention a long train that extends down the entire aisle of a church or chapel. There are, however, wedding dresses of other colors and styles that have their appeal to the bride who doesn't care for white or a lot of fussy decoration. The benefits of wearing non-traditional wedding dresses are the ease of putting it on and making sure it looks right, plus the price, which no doubt appeals to the woman who plans on getting married with a particular budget in mind. Non-traditional wedding dresses are also great for the bride who plans on getting married by a justice of the peace, or a religious officiator other than those found in the Judeo-Christian religions. There are a lot of pretty colors to choose from so chances are yours will appear somewhere in the list below:

Turquoise blue is a beautiful color for a spring wedding. The Ann Taylor dress here is in a color called rosette and is both simple and sweet to wear if you are getting married by a JP this year. This dress is sleeveless with a knee length skirt and a waistband with a small fabric flower at the left. Wear a pair of stockings, matching pump shoes with heels, and you are ready for the ceremony. A wedding dress in a neutral shade with a bit of gold sounds just like something Ralph Lauren would design, and he did. This dress(4) is sleeveless with a plunging scoop neckline and a floor length skirt with a sheer overlay. Some ladies love the color red, and look very good in it. The red satin dress(5) seen here will no doubt appeal to these ladies with its bright color, stain sheen, and peony shaped cutouts for a decoration at the right side of the dress. Jade green is a popular color for this year's spring and summer season. This dress(7) is strapless and has a pleated twist design at the bodice but this lovely creation is by Allen Schwartz for ABS. The purple dress here is the color of a lilac in full blossom. There is a beautiful ruffle running down the center of the bodice on this strapless dress. Even though this is advertised as a party dress, this can definitely be worn by a bride who loves purple and something sweet. The black fabric band at the waist has a bow in the back. For jewelry, try emeralds or sapphires. Designed by Kay Unger for Phoebe Couture, this dress is available from Saks Fifth Avenue(8) for $270.00.

This pale yellow lace dress is just the right thing for your wedding day. The dress has cap sleeves, a V-neckline, and is above knee length but you can wear you best stockings with this dress. Try some pale pink or light blue flowers with this dress. This dress is created by Chetta B and is available through Saks Fifth Avenue for $525.00.

The last dress here is turquoise in color with a delicate ruffle extending from the bodice to the full length of the skirt. The fabric is a silk and lycra blend so this has to be dry cleaned if necessary. The back of this dress has a ruffle at the waist and criss cross straps. There is a small train on this dress that makes it a perfect non-traditional wedding dress. Created by Zac Posen, this dress is available from Bergdorf Goodman for $4900.00
