10 Best Ways to Lose Weight and Keep it Off

It is natural that at some point in our lives, we are worried about our figure's ever changing tendency. Man and woman struggle alike to keep weights off their bodies. For health reasons such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and the list goes on, you want to keep off the weight so that your life can be comfortable and long lived. I do not have a magic pill that keeps off the weight, but there are ways one can try to lose weight healthily and keep it off. Here are some of the ways one can lose weight and keep it off.

Find out the cause of your weight gain. Some weight problems are genetic, while others are from external circumstances that we can control. For instance, some people gain weight from using certain brand of birth control pills which make them retain a lot of fluid. You need to check if this is the case for you. If you had normally been thin but suddenly see your midsection and other places bulging out due to changes in your lifestyle, then you need to reevaluate and eliminate that which causes the problem for you.

UseNatural Sweeteners instead of sugar or other artificial sweeteners: Studies have shown that there are a lot of calories packed in sugary products such as soda, sweets, and sugar or corn syrup products. From doughnuts to candies, to cake and ice creams, all our favorite sweets are normally bad for our health. If you truly want to lose weight, you must eliminate these items from your diet. You cannot keep eating those high calories with no nutritionally sound benefit and expect to look healthily fit. To get your self off these, try natural sweetener such as barley malt natural sweetener available at places like whole foods market.

Find a Program that works for you: Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, and South Beach Diet! All of these are now household names when it comes to dieting and losing weight. But as you probably know, some of them on many occasions are not successful. A classic example is the beautiful Kirstie Alley, who came on the Oprah Winfrey show showing her slimmed figure a few years back. Now you are probably aware that Kirstie gained all that weight back and some. It is not to say that Jenny Craig does not work, for that would be a blunder. Look at Valerie Bertinelli! It appears to work for her. The point I'm trying to make is that you need to find a program that is truly right for, so that you do not revert back to old habits as soon as your weight goal is met. Find something you can stick to regardless of if you have a personal trainer or not.

Watch what you buy from the store: I find it hard to believe sometimes when I hear some mothers complain about how their kids eat too much junk food. I go "who buys them?" Truly if you want a healthy diet or eating habit, you have to buy healthy products. Starting with when you are at the store, you do not want to fill your shopping cart with high calorie and yet not so notorious items. Make a habit of being in the produce section more than other isles in the supermarket. Buy plenty of fruits and vegetables and you will see how those alone will take off pounds. Spinach and greens, as well as high fiber fruits and vegetables work wonder on melting belly fats, and they are good for you!

Take longer walks: if you are prone to walking when you go to the store, good for you! If not, start doing that. If you live close to shopping centers why not buy a couple of those earth-friendly canvas bags and take them with you each time you need to shop (mostly at the produce section alright). You will see the weight slowly melt away as you exercise just by taking a trip to the store. If you don't live close to where you shop and have to have to drive, then park a bit farther from your destination to allow you trek significant distance to the store. Before you know it you form a habit of doing this and even start to enjoy it. You can mix this by walking up hills or jogging to make your body adjust to new routines thereby losing weight.

Eat small but frequent meals. Contrary to what people might have told you, you should never be starving yourself in an attempt to be thin. That only creates more problems for you. Starving can cause other health issues such as anorexia nervosa. Eating frequent but small, fruits and vegetable-rich meals will help you manage your weight better. A must do is breakfast, as it helps keep your system regular. If you notice that you have skipped breakfast, does it not often lead to irregularities in bowel movement and all? Having breakfast as light as possible helps your system regulate and burn calories better. A starving body loses the ability to function well including ability to complete the process of metabolism.

Increase Fluid (Water) Intake: You have heard it that 8 glasses of water a day is needed by our body to flush out the toxics that we put in it. Well, those 8 glasses can also include the water in the food you eat. But to really keep your weight off, try drinking the actual 8 glasses sans amount found in your food. Drink water at room temperature as it allows you to drink more (quantity) versus when it is icy cold (quality). Water keeps your body hydrated and helps regulate your system's function.

Weigh yourself daily: I know this sounds crazy, but I read an article where people attest to seeing significant changes in the way they treat their weight when they measure themselves daily. You do this not to see the amount of pounds gained or lost, but to see how what you eat each day affects your body. This can help you make better decisions as to what you need to be eating or avoiding. Now go on, and get your scale!

Keep Positive attitude: Any diet can fail you if you are constantly beating yourself down. You need to love yourself no matter what shape you are in. If you don't, who do you expect to do it for you? Charity begins at home. Keeping a positive attitude and honestly changing your lifestyle will help you achieve your goal in the long run. If you falter here and there, take it as a learning moment not as complete failure. Know what you can and cannot handle and focus on your strengths.

No Stress! Yes Sweat! You want to work hard at maintaining healthy weight. However, do not do so by stressing yourself or others. Make your work out or any program you chose become part of your daily fun routine. To make it normal, don't think of yourself as being on a diet. Rather, think of making life changing decisions and sticking to it because it is good for you. Best of luck with your life!
