10 Bible Verses for Christmas Cards

Christmas is a holiday of great festivities. Keep in mind that it's a holiday - a holy day. In living with the true spirit of Christmas and what it means for Christians, here are a few Bible verses to include in your greeting cards for loved ones.

1) John 3:16 -"For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." (NLT)

Perhaps one of the most well-known Christian verses. Technicalities of specific dates aside, Christmas is a time of celebration and remembrance of the great Love that came down from the heavens. Spread the true meaning of Christmas during this period of great joy!

2) Isaiah 9:6 -"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (NIV)

Proclaim the greatness of the Son! We call Him Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. Our Lord and savior! A child was born for the redemption of our sins.

3) Luke 2:14 - "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." (NIV)

This Bible verse helps us to recognize the importance in glorifying our God. His favor rests on us through Jesus and His love, let us praise Him!

4) 1 John 5:11 -"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son." (NIV)

This verse from 1 John reminds us of the life we have been given through the Son. Share the gift of eternal life by including this Bible verse in your Christmas cards!

5) Luke 1:35 -"The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God." (NIV)

As Mary questions the angel on how she could possibly conceive as a virgin, the angel answers by telling her that the Holy Spirit will be working upon her. Let us remember this great miracle and share this Bible verse in our Christmas cards.

6) Luke 1:14 -"And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth" (NIV)

Are we living in joy and gladness? Do we rejoice at His birth? Share the blessings we have been given in our lives through this verse.

7) Matthew 1:23 - "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." (KJV)

8) Psalm 72:11 - And let all kings bow down before him, all nations serve him. (NASB)

9) Luke 2:8~9 - "And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. (NIV)

What could be a better way to share about Christmas than telling a story of His birth? Brush up on the nativity story and share the joy with everyone around you.

What can I say? Christmas is a wonderful time to remember the birth of Jesus and what it means for our faith. Share a time of reflection and story telling with friends and family - remember the true meaning of Christmas!
