This article lists, in no particular order, ten books for a better you in 2010. I have personally read these books and have found each one of them inspiring in their own ways. Whether you need a push towards better finances, a promotion, self esteem or a positive attitude, this list has something for you.

Fearless by Max Lucado

If in 2010 you're looking to free yourself from everything that you're afraid of then Max Lucado's book Fearless would be a great book to read. Lucado tackles the topic of fear which he states herds us into a prison of locked doors. The aim for Fearless is to show the reader how to walk though those locked doors. Fearless' encouraging words enlighten the reader to ways they can remove whatever it is that bogs them down, whether that is fear, insecurity, dread or doubt, from their lives and learn to have more faith.

Now, Discover Your Strengths by Marcus Buckingham

One way to improve yourself in 2010 would be to discover what your strengths are and build them up. In the book, Now, Discover Your Strengths by Marcus Buckingham, Buckingham creates a program, StrengthsFinder®, which interviews the reader to determine what their strengths are and reveals how they can be transformed into personal and career success.

The second book in the strength building series, Go Put Your Strengths to Work: Six Powerful Steps to Achieve Outstanding Performance by Marcus Buckingham, focuses on ways the reader can apply his strengths for maximum success. He does this through a six-step, six-week program that if followed will garner results in the readers work and private life.

Do you want 2010 to be a year where you make a happier you? I know I do! The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin traces Ms. Rubin's twelve month journey to becoming a happier person. Her tale is inspiring and humorous and a recommended read for those who need a pick me up.

The book is inspired by Carnegie's adult courses in public speaking. The aim of this book is to aid the professional in making social contacts and improve speaking skills.

The Power of Positive Thinking
by Norman Vincent Peale

Another great book to improving yourself in 2010 is The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale. Being a former self doubter myself, this book has helped me to realize that constantly being negative will hold me back from achieving my goals. After reading this book I have a more positive outlook on life.

The End of Overeating: Taking Control of the Insatiable American Appetite by David A. Kessler

Suffering with weight nearly my whole life, I wanted to understand why I used to overeat. The drive-thru is to tempting to drive by so I will sometimes take the long way home just to avoid them. The End of Overeating: Taking Control of the Insatiable American Appetite by David A. Kessler sheds light on the reasons for our overeating even when were not hungry. The aim of the book is to explain to the reader that food manufacturing companies manipulate their products with sugar, fat and salt which Kessler believes stimulates our appetites to overindulge. My waist line is not arguing with that!

Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul: How to Create a New You by Deepak Chopra

Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul: How to Create a New You by Deepak Chopra explains to the reader how the body is a manifestation of the mind. What better way to start a new you then learning ways to reconnect with your ideal self? This book is a great guide to the renewal process and a mainstay in my personal library.

Three Feet from Gold: Turn Your Obstacles into Opportunities! by Sharon L. Lechter

This is another great book that inspires the reader to believe in themselves and to never give up on their goals. Three Feet from Gold: Turn Your Obstacles into Opportunities!by Sharon L. Lechter tells the story of an entrepreneur whose life is falling apart. The book traces their journey of personal, spiritual and financial growth.

Up till Now by William Shatner

This may seem to be a strange entry into this list of book for self improvement but I have found William Shatner's Up Till Now to be a funny and encouraging book. Throughout the book Shatner tells stories about his family, career and adventures. He hardly ever turns down an opportunity. His reason for always taking chances is you do not know what adventure you'll miss out on. Since reading his story I have learned to take chances because you never know what adventure or opportunities will come from putting yourself out there.
