10 Books Worth Reading and Eating: 10 Books About Food

What do most people like to do? I think that most people like both eating and reading. In fact, some people might enjoy reading while eating. However, I don't recommend doing this because people might get stains on the books. Books are precious objects. If you like reading and eating; then, I do recommend reading books about food. Therefore, here are ten books about food that you will both crave and rave about to your friends and family.

1. My Life in France is about a legendary chef. This non-fiction food book tells about Julia Child's life and how she became a pioneer in the culinary world. It surprise me that she didn't know how to cook or bake until she was married. She turned a passion for food into a delicious career. Say Bon Appetite to this book.

2. Julie and Julia pays tribute to Julia Child. This food book tells the story of one woman's quest to make all the recipes in The Art of French Cooking. This non-fiction food book inspired me to cook artichokes and make French cuisine. Both the book and the movie are mouthwatering.

3. The Whole World Over centers on an unhappy marriage and coconut cake. This fiction food books tells the story of Greenie, who gets a chance to cook for the governor of New Mexico, after he tastes her coconut cake. She leaves New York and moves to New Mexico to take the job. Will she go back to New York to work on her marriage or stay in New Mexico? This fiction food book is a page turner and quite yummy.

4. Moveable Feasts involves many food journeys. This non-fiction food book educates food lovers, scientists, and historians alike about the journeys our favorite foods take before they wind up at our grocery stores and on our dinner tables. I read this book for book club. My favorite chapters talk about strawberries, bananas, olive oil, and tea, This book is a must read for food lovers.

5. Garden Spells is about a magical garden that produces magical herbs and fruits. This fictional book is about Claire Waverly, a caterer. Her garden seems to grow magical fruits, especially apples. When, people eat these apples, their love lives get better. Readers will fall under the spell of this book.

6. The Sugar Queen is a sweet food book. The book is about Josie. She loves sweets. Each chapter of this book is named for a sweet, such as lemon drops and Everlasting Gobstoppers. People will have to read the book to see if Josie gives up her love of sweets for true love.

7. How Starbucks Saved My Life is about discovering what most important in life. This non-fiction food book is life affirming. The author is fired from his high paying job and gets a job at Starbucks. He learns the histories of all Starbucks coffees and pastries. In addition, he learns much about himself. This delicious book is a page turner.

8. Cooked is about a man who goes from famine to feast. This wonderful food books is about Jeff Henderson. He goes from cooking cocaine to cooking in some of the best hotels. This book takes place in San Diego and Las Vegas. Everybody in my book club loved it.

9. Baking Cakes in Kigali is about cakes and a caring ear. Angel is a expert cake baker in Rwanda. Therefore,
she has many customers. In addition, her customers confide in her. This fiction food book also touches on genocide and AIDS. This is a sweet and educational book.

10. Twinkies, Deconstructed is an informative food book. This book goes into great detail about Twinkies. It shows readers what is actually in Twinkies. It is a bit scientific; however, it is a worthwhile read.

Books and food go well together. In fact, many people have passions for both reading and eating. Therefore, there are books that will satisfy one's cravings for reading and eating. Happy reading, everyone.
