Yoga can be difficult, not only for the beginner but for those who have been doing it for years, as well. Some of the more advanced techniques and yoga poses take many years to master, but it can be done. Here are some breathing tips for those trying to tackle those difficult yoga poses.

2. Ensure a stress-free and distraction free environment. Make sure any phones or either turned off or unplugged, and any children are either sleeping or out of the house.

3. Avoid smoking prior to exercise. This one is a no-brainer; smoking inhibits your lung function anyway. If you normally smoke before your yoga routine, chances are you will have some difficulty breathing no matter what.

4. Wear loose clothes. This is vital to any kind of exercise program, yoga is no different. Tight fitting clothes not only restrict movements, but breathing as well.

5. Drink plenty of water. It is important to stay hydrated the entire time.

6. Make sure the area is well ventilated. Many prefer to do yoga outside, where they can better connect with nature and the earth. 7. Choose a focus point. This is taught to women experience childbirth as an effective method to help control your breathing. Choose something in the room, an object, or a spot on the floor, and focus on it the entire time.

8. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. This helps reduce hyperventilation, and also removes dust and other airborne particles from going inside your lungs or mouth.

9. Don't force it, just breathe naturally. This is an important point that yoga tries to emphasize. You shouldn't have to spend too much energy on thinking about breathing deeply - it should come naturally.

10. Concentrate. Another important yet basic point of yoga is concentration. Clear your mind, and concentrate on the task at hand.
