10 Business Ideas You Can Start From Home

I have talked with different mothers and we concluded that although we did go to school and graduated college, our main desire is to stay home with our children and take care of them. We do not want to miss any part of their lives. Suddenly having a big career took second place in our lives. But the truth is, we still need money, right? Kids are expensive to raise. There are pictures to be taken, games, gas for cars to take them to places, food, clothing, and more. So, how can we make money, yet stay home with our children, too? You guessed it! Work from home. So, here I compiled 10 of the business ideas you can do from home.

1. Catering Business-if you love to cook or bake, this is the field for you; look at your passion and with a little hard work you can do this. You can cater to different venues: corporations, weddings, rich people, schools, churches, etc. You can cater only pizza, desserts, or sandwhiches; it is not wise to expand too much; be best at what you do. If you are going to choose to cater only desserts, then be the best in town; have the best desserts, so that customers will think of you immediately when they think of the best desserts. Make sure you talk to officials like the mayor's office, small business department to find out about licensing, food handling license, health department, etc. If you do not have a kitchen that is fit for catering, why not rent someone else's? Maybe your church has a great kitchen already and they might even let you use it for free. Just remember that the city where you conduct your business, you need to have a license there, so a city license, plus a county license, whatever county you are in.

2. Wedding Planner-who doesn't like weddings? Such a joyous event! There are also programs online where you can go and get training for about $600 dollars and they even let you pay it in installments. It is not mandatory to have training from a school, but I would definitely recomment reading as much as you can about it. Books-A-Million has material on this business, too. If you still want to pinch some pennies, then head to the library; lots of books there and free! You need to be organized and pay attention to detail. Write down everything the client wants for a great customer satisfaction. Try working with people who care about their wedding and are willing to pay the money. You might want to get a little experience by throwing a little party at church or school for free and take pictures so that you have an album to show your clients of your previous work.

3. Tutoring-what a cheap start for a business and what a difference you can make in someone; life. Make sure you get some business cards and even a magnet for your car; advertisement is crucial in succeeding; put up fliers at the library(ask first because some libraries do not allow that); put up a sign in your yard that says, "Need Tutoring?" and add phone number; make sure you place a bumpersticker on your car; also, I cannot emphasize enough to make sure that you choose a niche; don't try to be "everyone' s tutor"; from my own experience, parents do not like that; they want the middle school tutor for their 12 year old, not the one who caters to college students. Also, have options : tutoring face to face or online. Some parents prefer face to face, especially when they think the student is slow, is not organized enough to be tutored online, is easily distracted, etc. Adjust your prices based on what city you live in; a small town will not pay you per hour as much as a huge city would.

4. Web Design-are you computer savvy? Why not design websites? With the economy as it is , so many people are starting their own businesses and they need a website and advertisement. Businesses are your best clients. Make a flier and go from one shop to another and give them a flier and a business card; make sure you include a better deal on the flier than your competition so you can stand out in the crowd; businesses want more and more clients; offer something in your design that would want clients to check it out just because the website looks amazing; if you need to brush up on some web design techniques, there are plenty of free courses online; take advantage of them.

5. Concierge-do you like to take care of people; do you have the gift of making things happen fast? Maybe this business is for you. You can specialize what kind of concierge services you wish to offer: traveling, concert bookings, hotel arrangements, cab services, field trips, etc. Customer service is imperative; make sure you take care of every detail for the client, but then again I assume that if you would like this business, then it means you have the gift to do it.

6. Interpreting/Translating-if you speak different languages, why not start your own interpreting services. You dont have to be certified as a linguist to do this; some states require legal interpreters and translators to be certified, others do not; offer great customer service and great deals for your clients; Most companies charge clients per minute. European languages cost more. I definitely encourage you to choose Spanish. Spanish speaking clients together with Romanian and Russians will make the majority of your clients. Offer also translation services; there are documents to be filled out and a lot of foreigners cannot understand Enlgish well. Offer on site services also, especially for Spanish speaking clients; the medical and social fields are in great need of interpreters/translators; schools, too.

7. Advertising Business-with all the businesses around, they need you. Every business needs advertisement every day. They would not make it without it. You know all those fliers you get in the mail? Yes! Those were designed by someone. You can be the one doing that. You can choose who you will advertize for. It can be department stores only or restaurants only. Make a flier or a brochure and take it to a restaurant and see what they think about it. You never know, they might choose you as their advertiser. Another business you can advertise for is hotels. Small businesses also need you. You can specialize in making signs, bumper stickers, business cards, etc. Promptness of service is important in this area. No one wants to wait on their delivery a month later. Businesses need advertisement TODAY or they lose money. You want to be known as the company that offers the greatest service and fast!

8. Landscaper-did you get a Biology degree and do not know what to do with it? How about landscaping? Yes, commercial landscapers need a license, but those working for private residents not always. You can learn to be a garden landscaper. There are plenty of books at the library that you can borrow to learn about different flowers and plants and even how to plant and arrange them. Look at pictures. If you live in a house and you have a yard, why not start a garden in your yard and take pictures of to show your clients and they can see what you do? Advertise with a car magnet, in the newspaper, and business cards your business,

9. Employment Refferal Agency-everyone wants to find a good job and something that preferrably is according to their own giftings. Why not start a business where clients can come to you and bring you their work and education information and match them up with a JOB. You know about matchmakers in romance, why not match someone with their dream job? Sometimes people are exhausted of looking for a job and sometimes they ran out of ideas where to even look. Why not be the one that makes that transition easy for them? You need to be very well informed about the companies our there and what they are looking for and guide them to the right place. Make friends with a lot of companies and tell them what you do so that they even know who to contact when they need a good employee. Business cards and a wesbite are crucial here. Make sure prospect employees and employers can find you and contact you. Don't be another website that employees and employers come together looking for the other; take an active role in making it happen; be different than the rest of employee referrals. A prospect employee has a harder time finding a job through a website, but a live person can give them more hope, who will personally contact a business and refer them.

10. Write Ebooks-from educational ebooks to "how to's" , people are always looking for information. But do not just write an ebook that doesn't help much; for example, if you write an ebook on how to choose the cheapest yet best schools, please make sure you give clear example of websites and ideas for parents and students where to look. Don't just say, " You can find a school, just google". Everyone can do that. Then why should anyone read your ebook? Give clear examples. People want it easy. Thye know that if they google enough they will probably find something. Be the best at what you do; give cleal guidance, examples, wesbites, contact information, steps on how to achieve their goals, etc.

So, here are 10 business ideas from home. Please remember that ALL businesses need advertising. One of the best ways to advertise is on craigslist. Yes, that is how I get most of ym clients. Newspapers did not turn out that beneficial for me, but they might be for you. Also, depending on where you live, that is the kind of clientele you will attract.

One of the things I have learned from Gary Keese, christian minister, is that the Kingdom of God is within you. If you believe in Jesus, His Kindgom, or His dominion is in you and no matter where you are, success will come out of who you are in Him, not what location you move to. Joseph went from Potiphar's house to jail and everywhere he went blessings followed him. He was not a product of his environment, but the environment changed because of who he was. God gave you talents and passions to do something with them. It takes a little work to get where you need to be, but it is NOT impossible! All things are possible WITH God! If you cannot do it all on your own, recruit your family. Get your children out to help you place fliers. Call schools to see if they would accept your fliers to be placed in children's folder about your tutoring services. Post on craigslist every 2-3 days. Have your business name out there.

If you lost your job, just don't let the wall hit you hard and make you fall. Ask yourself, how can I turn this into an opportunity to reach my dream? Look at your giftings again and use those for God's glory. He will bless it if you are seeking His Kingdom only. If you see that He would take dominion over all , then everything else shall be added unto you.
