10 Clever Ways to Reuse Valentine's Day Candy Boxes

Repurposing Projects for Candy Boxes

Angela W. La Fon
It is estimated that over 36 million boxes of Valentine's Candy will be given for Valentine's Day. That's a lot of calories but that's also a lot of packaging. There are many ways to go green with those little red candy boxes. Consider reusing and repurposing Valentine's Day candy boxes.

Repurpose a Valentine's Day Candy Box as a Heart Shaped Frame:

Heart shaped frames are cute and you can get two for one using the top and bottom of a heart shaped candy box. Trace the heart onto a photo, cut and insert. You can embellish the outer edges of the heart with buttons, rhinestones, shells or lace.

Repurpose a Candy Box as a Paint Palate:

Those Valentine candy boxes with the individual candy holder inserts are perfect for putting out a small amount of several colors of paint. Just rinse well and reuse over and over.

Repurpose a Valentine's Day Candy Box as a Bead or Button Box:

Organize your craft supplies by sorting your buttons or beads into the sections of a Valentine's Day candy box.

Repurpose a Valentine's Day Candy Box as a Music Shaker:

Simply add a few beans or dry pasta and tape securely and you've got a fun music shaker. Use a hole puncher to add ribbon fringes or let kids add on music stickers for a handmade shaker they'll really "heart."

Repurpose a Valentine's Day Candy Box as a Stationary Box:

A Valentine candy box would make a perfect stationary box to hold note cards, stamps, address labels and so on. You'll be reminded of your "Valentine" every time you use your stationary supplies.

Repurpose a Valentine's Day Candy Box into a Piggy Bank:

Why do pigs get all of the money saving action? With a simple slit, turn a heart box into a coin bank to save for something you'll love.

Repurpose a Valentine's Day Candy Box into a Serving Dish:

For Mother's Day brunch, the Christmas party or a future Valentine's Day, use heart shaped candy boxes as dishes to serve appetizers or desserts, from sausage balls to chocolate covered strawberries.

Repurpose a Valentine's Day Candy Box into a School Supply of Office Supply Box:

Are you tired of buying more and plastic to organize office supplies or school supplies? With the divider out a candy box will gladly hold pencils or markers. With the divider in, a candy box can help organize pushpins, paper clips or erasers.

Repurpose a Valentine's Day Candy Box as a Gift Box:

A candy box can make a sweet gift box for small gifts like handmade soaps, baby booties or bibs or of course your own homemade baked goods.

Repurpose a Valentine's Day Candy Box into a Valentine's Day Memento Box:

Was this a really special Valentine's Day? You can keep mementos from your Valentine's Day in your candy box. Ideas include dried flower petals, ticket stubs, cards, napkins or photos that represent your special day. You could even arrange and glue them in like a Valentine's Day shadow box.
