10 Deadliest Animals

For most people not very likely but Absolute Astronomy does rank bears as the tenth most dangerous animal.
Starting with bears here are the animals who cause the most human deaths each year:

#10. Bears... There are 8 species of bears on Earth and they kill 5-10 people every year.

#9. Jellyfish... If you have ever seen stung by a jellyfish you can say you had a brush with death. Every year these gelatinous invertebrates kill over 100 people!

#8. Hippopotamus... The Hungry Hungry Hippo game is not so funny now is it? These weird but wonderful animals are responsible for reducing the human population with over 200 deaths each year.

#7. Lions... Some of the biggest cats on Earth. Tigers are the only cat larger than lions but they don't make it into the top 10 deadliest animal list. Size isn't everything but if a five hundred pound lion frightens you good. Lions kill over 250 people a year!

#6. Bees... Wasps don't make into the top deadliest animals either but bees swarm right in with credit for over 400 deaths each year.

#5. Elephants... The three species of these favorite zoo animals cause 600 deaths a year!

#4. Crocodiles... Crocs didn't kill Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin (who was killed by a sting ray) but they do kill 2,000 people a year.

#3. Scorpions... In the United States only 1 in 30 species of scorpion is dangerous to humans but worldwide scorpions kill as many as 5,000 people a year!

#2. Snakes... In America you are more likely to be struck by lightening that die of snakebite but this is thanks to the good medical treatment of an estimated 45,000 annual bites in the US alone. World wide snakes kill over 100,000 annually.
