Face it, your dog loves toys and you love indulging him. With so many choices on the pet store shelves how can you know which ones will be both attractive to your dog and safe for him to play with? Moreover, how can you afford to purchase toys for your dog when your budget is so tight?

Here's the answer. Below is a list of 10 great toys that are safe, sturdy and fun for your dog. Moreover, these toys were chosen for their durability, low price and interactive characteristics.

1. Cuz. This hard rubber toy has a loud squeak, round shape and is very hardy. It comes in a variety of colors that dogs can see, such as light green, orange, red (this is dark gray to dogs) and blue. There are Good Cuz and Bad Cuz. The Good Cuz has big feet so if your dog likes to chew keep an eye on him. The Bad Cuz has pointy ears. These ears are very small so they are difficult to get between a canine's pointy teeth. They retail for $7 or less.

2. Busy Buddy interactive tug toy. This bottle-shaped toy (see pic below), has a rope inserted. Both the bottle and rope are very sturdy and can withstand a lot of pulling and rough play. They retail for less than $10.

3. Kong Wubba. The Wubba is a cone shaped base with four "tails" that extend out for approximately twice the length of the cone. They come in a variety of materials, colors and sizes. They also squeak which is attractive to many dogs. They vary in price according to size and style, but a basic Wubba can be purchased for $7.95.

4. Kong Air. This toy comes in a variety of shapes such as a retrieving dummy, dumbbell, jack, and bone. All are covered in the same material as a tennis ball and constructed of rubber interior. Some also squeak. They are fun and hardy fetch toys and have an average price of $6.

5. Kong Classic. This toy can withstand most dog abuse. It comes in a size for every type of dog and some that float for water retrieving games. It is constructed of hard rubber and is hollow inside so you can stuff treats within, giving your dog something to do over a period of time. They range in price from $3 - $9 depending on size.

6.Booda Rope toys. This toy is not only inexpensive, but also has many styles and sizes to choose from. Some are plain ropes with knots at the end. Some have a ball or choo hoof attached. There are also styles that specialize in flossing the dog's teeth or freshening breath. Booda rope toys are hardy and last a long time provided the dog doesn't like to pull out strings. They range in price from $2 - $8.

7. Tire Biter toys. These toys are made of recycled tire rubber. Just as this material has to be sturdy to hold and move vehicles, it will also withstand an aggressive chewer. The Tire Biter toys vary in size and shape, but are all under $10.

8. Chuck-it ball launcher. This is a fun toy for both you and your dog. If you love playing fetch as much as your dog, then this will enhance the game as it enables you to throw the ball much farther than with just your arm. You can also pick up a slimy ball from the ground with it. The Chuck-it sells for $9.

9. Tuffy Toy Ring. Most Tuffy toys are very expensive as they are the only stuffed toy that can withstand rough play by a large dog. The ring is the least expensive of this product line, but offers lots of fun for your dog. You can play fetch, tug or use it as a pillow. The Tuffy Ring is normally under $10.

10. Ruff-dog Stick. This toy is molded to have the appearance of a real stick, but it is far sturdier than the real thing. Moreover, it is yellow, offering a color that dogs can see, making it even more appealing. The Ruff-dog stick is constructed of rubber with a hollow interior. It is flexible and sells for under $8.

As with all toys, always observe your dog at play to insure that he doesn't get too rough. Though a toy advertises being "dog-proof" there is always one dog with the jaw power or persistence to destroy it.
