10 Drinks Guaranteed to Put the Red, White, and Blue in Your 4th of July Celebration

Barb Webb
Your Fourth of July celebration may include outdoor activities and barbeques, but there's no reason you can't step up your drinks a notch from the standard offering of beer in keg. Plus, party guests will rave about your savvy bartender skill all summer long.

These all-American drinks will definitely get the fireworks going way before its dark out:

57 Chevy Ride (red)

You might not be driving along route 66, but you'll feel like you are after a couple of these zingers!

1 shot of Southern Comfort
1 shot of Gin
1/3 cup of Orange Juice
1/3 cup of Pineapple Juice
Dash of Grenadine

Add liquor, juice, and ice to a cocktail shaker. Cover, shake well, then strain into a tall cocktail glass filled with ice.

Snow White Cooler (white)

There's really nothing innocent about this concoction, but the result is a frothy off-white cocktail sure to please.

2 shots of Bailey's Irish Cream
1 Shot of Blended Whisky

Add liquor and ice to a cocktail shaker. Cover, shake well, then strain into a cocktail glass. May serve over ice, if desired, especially in particularly warm weather.

Alaska Ice Tea (blue)

What better to serve on a hot summer day than a cold treat inspired by the frozen north.

½ Shot of Gin
½ Shot of Vodka
½ Shot of White Rum
½ Shot of Cointreau
½ Shot of Blue CuraÁao
7UP or Sprite

In a tall cocktail glass half filled with ice, layer each shot in order listed. Top off with soda and enjoy!

Stars and Stripes (red, white, and blue!)

It doesn't get any more patriotic than this- you'll wow your guests with the colorful layers!

1 shot of Grenadine
1 shot of Blue CuraÁao
1 shot of Light Cream

Build the layers in a short cocktail glass. (Hint: pour the liquid over the back of a spoon as you add them to the glass to help layer.) Serve and enjoy.

Cape Cod Breeze (red)

Hob-nob with the in crowd while sipping this bright drink on the seashore.

1 shot of Vodka
Cranberry juice

Add ice and vodka to a tall cocktail glass. Add cranberry juice, stir, and enjoy.

For a fun, bubbly twist, add equal parts cranberry juice and seltzer instead of straight cranberry juice.

Apple Pie (white)

Nothing says "America" like apple pie, but this is certainly not your mom's recipe.

1 shot of Apple Liqueur
1 shot of Licor 43
½ cup of Milk

Add liquor, milk, and ice to a cocktail shaker. Cover, shake well, then strain into a cocktail glass. For a little extra kick, add a dash of cinnamon on top!

Blue Hawaii (blue)

This blended treat from the fiftieth state will have you singing "Tiny Bubbles" in no time.

1 shot of White rum
1 shot of Blue CuraÁao
1 shot of Cream of Coconut
½ cup Pineapple Juice

In a blender, add one cup of ice, liquor, cream of coconut, and pineapple juice. Blend until smooth. Pour into a fancy or tall cocktail glass and serve.

California Wine Cooler (red)

For a revitalizing summer treat, mix up your own wine cooler. Guests will appreciate the fresh flavor.

Red or White Wine
Seltzer, 7UP, or Sprite
Grenadine

In a tall cocktail glass filled with ice, pour half full with wine, then top with soda and a dash of grenadine. Stir lightly and enjoy!

Blue Bird (blue)This isn't named after the bird of happiness for no good reason...

1 shot of Blue CuraÁao
2 shots of Gin
1 shot of Lemon Juice
1 dash Monin Orgeat

Add liquor, juice, and ice to a cocktail shaker. Cover, shake well, then strain into a cocktail glass.

Orange slices make a great garnish for this drink as it complements the almond flavor of the Monin Orgeat.

The Bastille (red, white, and blue!)

The name may be French, but the colors are all-American!

1 Shot of Blue CuraÁao
1 Shot of Cointreau
1 Shot of Grenadine

Build the layers in a short cocktail glass. (Hint: pour the liquid over the back of a spoon as you add them to the glass to help layer.) Serve and enjoy.

BONUS TIP: If you want to give any of the above drinks some extra pizzazz, decorate with a slice of carambole star fruit and a maraschino cherry speared by an American flag toothpick (available at party supply stores.)

Great article. I thionk I'll try them all. The Alaska Ice Tea sounds a lot like a Long Island Ice Tea Except with 7-UP instead of coke.
