1- Drink more water. Most of us don't drink enough water and just adding a few extra glasses to our routine can have huge health benefits. There is also quite a bit of evidence that drinking lots of water can help us keep our weight stable.
2- Drink green tea. Tea is believed to have anti-oxidant properties which make it good for preventing some forms of cancer and other diseases. Green tea is said to be the best variety. If you want to drink a caffeine drink then choose green tea over coffee and that way you can help to improve your health.
3- Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Most of us will have heard of the many benefits of eating from this section of the food pyramid. Fruit is a much healthier snack than sweets and you don't tend to feel so guilty about indulging.
4- Dance when you are listening to music. You don't need any skill to dance while listening to your favorite tunes. Once you get in the habit you will be burning calories without even realizing it; you'll be lost in the music. You can do this without people around if you are the shy type like me.
5- Play air guitar. This is similar to number 4 but for those people who wouldn't be seen dead dancing. Pretend you're playing the biggest gig ever as you bound around your stage. You will be feeding your imagination and doing a lot to improve your health.
6- Keep reminding yourself to smile throughout the day. Smiling a lot will not only make you happier but it will also improve your health. I keep a note on my computer to remind me to smile. Sometimes you have to fake it to make it.
7- Meditate. You don't have to go into the lotus position to get some meditation benefits. If sitting and gazing at your naval isn't your thing then try yoga or tai-chi.
8- Listen to relaxing music. This requires almost no effort from you but can have impressive results on your health. You may be surprised to find how much what we listen to can affect our lives.
9- Get out into nature. Just going for a walk in the fresh air can be enough to improve our sense of well-being.
10- Keep your mind active by finding things that excite you. A common thing that those who live long lives tend to share is a continued interest in life. If you want to extend your life and improve your health keep looking for new things to keep your mind active.
Above are just ten things that you can do to improve your health. None of days require much effort and should fit easily into your life. Just taking on one or two new health habits is a lot better than doing nothing.
