You don't have to go totally green, make drastic lifestyle changes, spend tons of money or even hug a tree to reduce your carbon footprint and have a positive impact on the earth and our environment. Here are 10 simple things you can do. Many of them will also save you time and money too.

E Bills and Electronic Statements

Most banks, credit card companies and utility companies offer you the option of receiving bills and statements by email rather than traditional mail. This saves a considerable amount of paper.

Pay Bills On-Line

Pay bills on company web sits or through your bank online to save paper. You'll save time, postage and grief too.

Pay Electronically or By Credit/Debit Card Rather Than Checks

Eliminate paying bills by check or money order. Pay via credit or debit card, electronically online or by cash in person to save paper ... and postage.

Reusable Cloth Shopping Bags

Pack groceries in your own cloth shopping bags you rather than using the store's paper or plastic bags.

Buy Loose Bulk Fruits and Vegetables

Shop and supermarkets and grocery stores where you can purchase loose fruits and vegetables rather than pre-packaged produce packaged in styrofoam and plastic. Buying unpackaged produce also assures you get the highest quality for your money.

Use Stones or Mulch In Landscaping

Control weeds with natural stones or mulch without underlying back plastic. This will save you money too.

Turn Off Lights and Appliances When Not in Use

Shut off the TV if you're not watching it and turn off lights if you're not in the room. This not only saves energy but cuts your utility bills to save you money too.

Raise Air Conditioning Settings

Run your air conditioner one to two degrees warmer than usual ... you won't feel the difference ... or even better keep it set at 78 degrees. You'll save fuel and lower your utility bill considerably.

Carpool Whenever Possible

Take one car rather than two if you're going to dinner with friends. If schedule and distance allows, consider carpooling with co-workers who live near you or neighbors who work near you.
