Stuck for Gift Ideas to Give a Teacher? Try One of These

At the end of the school year, it is a nice idea to show your children's teachers, or your own teacher, that you appreciate and acknowledge what they do. Here are 10 ideas for an end of the year thank you gift.

Massage coupons: Look up local health spa or massage businesses and go pick up a gift certificate. No matter how much they love working with children, it can be a challenging job. This is the perfect way to help a teacher unwind and relax.

Manicure/Pedicure: Having a manicure or pedicure is often very relaxing. Look for a place that does both hand and food massages and manicures/ pedicures to make it a full experience.

Restaurant : Teachers spend all day serving children in one way or another. What a nice thing to have someone serve them for a change.

Movie tickets: Most people enjoy an outing and a pair of movie tickets for the teacher and a friend or family member is a not overly expensive gift idea that they will appreciate. Check you local movie theaters and see if they offer generic gift certificates so the teacher has a choice of what movie they want to see. An alternate idea along the same lines is a gift certificate from the local DVD/video rental store.

Basket of goodies: Baskets can hold anything teachers might like. Some ideas might include a basket of fresh fruit or a coffee and tea related theme with mugs and samples.

Gas card: Teachers needs to be able to get back and forth to school or a chance to just get away once in awhile. A prepaid gas card would be a welcome gift, particularly with the current cost of a fill up at the local gas station.

Books: Many times teachers end up supplementing school supplies. For elementary school teachers in particular a gift of an age appropriate book or two for their own classroom would be a gift not only for the teacher, but for future students. If the teacher moves to another school to teach , they can take the books along with them for another classroom. Teachers may enjoy a book for themselves too, so consider a gift certificate from a local bookstore, so they can choose their own book.

Grocery Store Gift Card: Most large grocery stores offer gift cards or gift certificates. With this gift teachers can buy whatever food item they like. to suit their own tastes.

Potted Plant: Choose indoor or outdoor potted plants. An indoor plant could be used either at school or at home. If you know the teacher enjoys gardening, an outdoor plant might be a nice change from the regular house plants.

Prepaid Charge Card: Not everyone knows their child's teacher well enough to know their hobbies or interests. Many grocery or large chain stores now carry a variety of prepaid gift certificates.

Presentation can often make the gift more special. Have your child make a handmade card and be sure to include a personal note of your own, acknowledging your appreciation for the work they do with your child.

The mark teachers make in the education of a student can influence both how they learn and what they want to learn. A token of appreciation coming from a student and their family, can mean a great deal to all teachers..

I've been tossing around the idea of getting my daughter's preschool teacher a massage gift card...and since it's #1 on your list, I think I will!
