Applications that Actually Do Something Useful with Your Time

Forget all the games, karma, kisses, hugs and pokes. Facebook has useful applications available that you just might, well-use. Here are ten worth looking at and trying out.

1. Desktop Notifications - This Facebook App is only for those of the Mac OS X persuasion. Just as it sounds, it adds notifications to your desktop when something interesting happens. Kind of what notifications do anyway. Check it out HERE.

2. Status Shuffle - Bored silly with your friends' statuses? Try Status Shuffle. It gives you the funniest statuses on Facebook. Check it out HERE.

3. NetworkBlogs - Sometimes the most seamless apps are the best. NetworkBlogs is one of those. Bring your blog into Facebook and share it with everyone who is too lazy to type in your blog's URL. Check it out HERE.

4. Twitter - How else are you going to annoy all your Facebook friends 140 characters at a time? The Twitter app allows you to tweet and post your tweets on Facebook. Useful for those who don't have time to repeat everything they type once across social networks. Check it out HERE.

5. Zoho Online Office - Ever wanted to share Office files with other Facebook users only to be stymied by the lack of attachments in their inbox? Now you can share your Word, Excel and other potentially virus-laden documents with your friends. Check it out HERE.

6. Ping.fm - Another one of those social network spamming utilities. Enter in your status on Facebook and blast it out to Twitter, MySpace, Livejournal and others. Also very useful for those who can't take the time to log onto every site they belong to repeat themselves. Check it out HERE.

7. Appear Offline - Wouldn't it be nice to be on Facebook and see who is online without others seeing you? Appear Offline allows you to see who's there without giving away you're really the Facebook junkie we all knew you were. Check it out HERE.

8. ShareSong - Your taste in music is, well, unique. So, why not share your bad taste in music by searching through Grooveshark's extensive library and sending those songs to your friends and followers. Don't blame them when all your friends unfriend you. Check it out HERE.

9. Pandora - If you already have a Pandora account, here's the official way to listen and integrate Pandora to Facebook. Plus you can spy on your friends' music tastes and wonder about them. Check it out HERE.

10. SkypeMe - As if you weren't doing enough socializing, now you can add a SkypeMe app and your friends can call you for free on Skype right from Facebook. You can also call your friends as well for a free conference. Check it out HERE.

I love the Pandora App. The website recently became one of my favorites and I'm so happy that I now have an app for it. Another app I recently found and love is from Rent Jungle. It lets you search for and share apartments with friends on Facebook. Here's the link if you want to check it out!
