10 Foods to Keep Your Skin Healthy
Sticking to a Natural Diet Rich with Vitamins, Minerals, Proteins, and Essential Oils and Fats
Salmon
One of the best sources of Omega 3 EFA, salmon is a delicious and healthy part of any good diet. Salmon is also full of other helpful goodies for your skin, like vitamins A, D, B6 and B12, and it's got plenty of iron and calcium too.
Nuts / Seeds
Not only are nuts a good source of natural oils and essential fatty acids, but they also contain something that's necessary for your skin to stay clear; antioxidants! Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, cashews, flax, and other seeds and nuts are full of Omega 3s, natural oils, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
Spinach
This delicious, versatile, green leafy veggie is incredibly good for your skin. It's a rich source of iron, and also contains lots of vitamins and minerals that make it not only great for your skin, but fantastic for your body and diet, too.
Seaweed
Of course, seaweed is good for your skin. It's found in many of the best skincare products, and is in over 50% of the better quality do-it-yourself skincare recipes. Some people don't realize though, that you don't just get the benefits of seaweed by putting it directly on your skin. You should eat it, too!
Eggs
Any way you cook them, eggs are good for you. They've got vitamin B complex, vitamin A, and Selenium, which acts much like vitamin E does for your body and skin. Eggs are also good for nourishing damaged hair.
Citrus
Beta-carotene is essential for youthful skin, it's basically the more natural form of vitamin A and works along with our bodies in the most natural of ways. Many citrus fruits and other tropical orange fruits like mango, nectarines, and peaches, can really help bring a natural, glowing shine to your skin.
Avocados
This one's easy, many home made facial masks and scrubs use fresh avocado in their recipes. However, did you realize how amazingly good it is for you to eat as well? It doesn't just help your skin when you apply it directly! Eating a decent amount of avocado in your weekly diet will have noticeable effects on your skin and hair! Avocados also have vitamin E and natural acids and oils that make it a good addition to your diet even if you don't have skin problems.
Tomatoes
Eating a generous amount of tomatoes in your diet will keep your body running smoothly and your skin looking radiant and refreshed. Tomatoes are a great source of vitamin C, and they're an amazing antioxidant as well.
Potatoes / Sweet potatoes
Ahh, delicious carbohydrates! Many people shun the starchy carbs of potatoes and sweet potatoes, but I give them a hearty thumbs up! Potatoes and sweet potatoes are great sources of vitamins like A and C, and they're full of antioxidants and useful starches, oils, and acids that your body eats right up as fuel. Keeping a diet full of these natural, healthy carbohydrates can improve your complexion in less than a week.
Mushrooms
Most people underestimate the power of our fungus friend, the edible mushroom. These delicious little fungi are full of zinc and selenium, and have been a part of people's healthy diets for centuries. Eating plenty of mushrooms in your diet has been said to have great effects on the smoothness of your skin, and helps to eliminate any white or black spots you might have.
I hope you find these tips useful and try to stick to a healthier, more natural diet and lifestyle! And remember, natural is ALWAYS better!
