10 Free Thanksgiving Sewing and Craft Ideas for the Whole Family

Crafts are a great way to get your creative juices flowing and make some really cool items, too. I love doing just about any type of craft; from painting little ceramic projects to sewing cute stuffed animals or quilts. I took those ideas into consideration when I made this next list. I thought the wider the spectrum of craft ideas, the better any of you would have finding one you would like to try.

This first project is an adorable handmade turkey. (Click here.) It truly is handmade because it is made from a stencil of your child's hand! Take a look at this sewing project and pass it on to your friends! Imagine getting the whole family to do this project and have all the finished turkeys on a table to show off.

Fall leaves are a given around Thanksgiving. Kids love to go out and collect them, but in a few days the leaves curl up and loose their beautiful reds and oranges. The brittle and brown leaves that are left are depressing and are soon discarded. Try this sewing craft and you will have beautiful fall leaves around year after year. (Click here.)

For this next craft, you will need to take out your sewing machine. If you like pumpkins as much as I do, then you will love this sewing project. You will be making a festive decoration to add to your holiday décor. (Click here.)

Click here for another autumn leaves project. I like this one because the stitches are the veins in the leaves. This is a simple craft that kids can do while supervised. This project is roughly the same as the one above, but no beads are used and it is not as flashy.

If you live near an oak grove, then this next project will be perfect for you. It is a wreath made of acorns. (Click here.) Just like the directions say; all you need is acorns and hot glue. The hardest part of this project is arranging the acorns in a wreath. I think if I tried it, I would end up with an oval!

I really like pumpkins and autumn leaves. This next craft uses Plaster of Paris to make autumn leaves. It is a nice idea and definitely worth a try with the kids! (Click here.)

Here is another adorable turkey that is simple to make. Who knew that just folding scrapbook paper like a fan could wield such a wonderful centerpiece! Click here for the instructions.

Yes, we have another turkey. This one is made out of different colors of corrugated cardboard! It sounds strange, but it looks fabulous! (Click here.)

I love gift tags but never seem to have the right ones for the occasion. I found this lovely gift tag, and what do you know! It is a pumpkin! It is a very tasteful gift tag bound to make even the toughest critic smile. Click here for the directions.

We end this article with The Grand Gobbler. This is a sewing project for the kids, or for kids at heart. It is another turkey and he is cute! Click here to see the newest addition to your family. Once you see him, you will need to make him. Can you refuse that face?

I love so many of these projects that now I have another dilemma... I need to get more hours in the day to complete all of them! They are too cute to pass up. I hope you have enjoyed at least one of these crafty ideas. Have fun!

I never would have thought of a wreath made from acorns. I hope the squirrels don't try to get them once the wreath is hung. ;-)
