1. Adult Belly Dance Competition - Have the women judge the men in an exotic dance contest this New Year's Eve! All you need are scarves and some exotic Arabic music. Have the men cover their faces with the scarves, pull up or take off their shirts to expose their bellies. Start the music and watch the fun begin. They could dance at the same time or one at a time for 30 seconds each. Have prizes for the things like the "most voluptuous" or the "sexiest". Make sure there are enough prizes for everyone to win something.
2. Charades - Make it a New Year's Eve version of charades by acting out popular song, book or movie titles, events, or people that made the news during the year. Divide the group into two teams and determine how long each round will be. Have each team brainstorm and write the names of the things to be acted out. Have them write each one on a small piece of paper and put them in a New Year's Eve Hat. The first person chooses a paper from the opposite team's bowl and acts out the name or phrase. Remember - no talking allowed! Only the team of the person acting out tries to guess. If the timer goes off before the correct answer is guessed, no point is earned. It is now the other team's turn. Alternate turns between teams and the one who guesses the most correctly wins.
3. The Cherry Game - Ask your guests who likes cherries. When you have a few volunteers, place a maraschino cherry in a bowl in front of them. Explain that this is a race to see who can eat the cherry first. The rules are they cannot use their hands. Just as they think this is an easy game, fill each bowl with whipped cream. Now the fun begins! The winner is the first person to find and eat their cherry. Make sure you have a camera handy.
4. Bouncing Ball Drinking Game - Have everyone sit in a circle with their drink in hand. You do need an IMAGINARY ball. The rules are simple but seem to get more confusing as the game progresses. Someone needs to start the game by saying one of the following words: whiz, bounce or boing. Whiz means the ball moves on to the next player. Bounce means the ball skips the next player and moves on to the following person. Boing means the ball hits the wall and switches direction. The penalty for any error is taking a drink. Please only play this game only if you are NOT driving. Remember to drink responsibly.
5. Two Truths and A Lie - This New Year's Eve see how well you know your adult guests. Have everyone sit in a circle. Each guest should think of two truths and one lie. It is much more effective if the truths are somewhat outlandish and the lie is more believable. This makes it harder for the other guests to tell the lie. In turn, have each person tell their two truths and a lie. The group gets to discuss the statements and has to guess which is the lie. The person then reveals the actual lie and the next person takes their turn.
6. Anonymous version of Two Truths and a Lie - Have each person write the two truths and a lie on a piece of paper, fold it and put it in a bowl. The host then randomly pulls them out one at a time and reads them to the group. Now the group must guess BOTH the person and the lie. It is best if they try to identify the person first.
7. Pick Up - Have everyone stand in a circle facing outward with their arms linked together at the elbows. Place the prize, perhaps a $10 bill in the center of the circle. The object of Pick Up is very simple - get the prize! Players may use their hands but their arms must remain linked with the people on both sides. If the circle breaks the game starts over. The winner is the person who succeeds in picking up the prize.
8. Park Bench - For this adult New Year's Eve game you need to move two chairs together and have a lot of imagination. Pretend these chairs are a New York City park bench. The object of the game is to do whatever you can to make the person next to you move off of the park bench. For example, if you were sitting on one seat and a stranger came up to you and started hugging you, you would probably leave. When you succeed in making the person leave the seat, you move to that seat and it's the next person's turn.
9. Wooden Spoons - Guess someone's identity by feeling them only with wooden spoons. One guest in blindfolded and sits in a chair. Each person stands or kneels in front of the blindfolded person. That person must guess each identity only by feeling them with the wooden spoons.
10. Aura - This game is a great spectator sport for New Year's Eve. Set up several groups of two people. These people will compete with each other. Two partners stand face-to-face, arms extended, palms touching. Either blindfold each person or have them close their eyes. Have them turn around five times and try to find their partners palms again and return to their original positions without looking.
