10 Good Reasons to Eat Breakfast

Susan O.
All of us are in some or another trying to cope with a fast changing world. Most often people tend to skip their breakfast just to catch up with their work. Children gobble up their food just to catch their school bus, teens eat their breakfast on the run to catch up with their friends, men skip their breakfast to get on to their previous day's pending work, women tend to miss out their breakfast to catch up with their daily chores and our elders skip it because thet aren't hungry. The end result is fatigue as each cell and tissue of the body craves for energy.

The name it self suggest why we need to have breakfast regularly. Break-fast or breaking the long fast is very important because our stomach has been empty for nearly eight hours or so. We should realize that breakfast is an important meal of the day and should not be skipped at any cost. Breakfast is essential because breakfast:

1. balances the sugar level in our blood, which otherwise would make us feel dizzy.

2. makes you active and brisk through out the day.

3. maintains the metabolism rate which otherwise would be very low making a person feel groggy.

4. makes a person more productive and creative than usual.

5. improves concentration. If you skip your breakfast the hunger bell rings sooner than should in your stomach and you may not be able to concentrate on the task at hand.

6. will help you eat right. Eating the right amount of food at equal intervals is very important to stay fit. Skipping breakfast means feeling famished and to compensate for no breakfast one tends to eat more during the next mealtime.

7. reduces the amount of fat and junk food we eat to overcome hunger. A balanced and well nourished breakfast can keep you full till lunch time - almost 5-6 hours.

8. fills us enough that we don't overeat during lunch. A filling lunch makes one feel sleepy at work.

9. reduces the possibility of getting a stroke and diabetes; all you need to add in your breakfast is fiber rich whole grains like oats to help reduce the chance of diabetes or stroke.

10. helps in weight reduction. Quite different from what many people believe, a good breakfast can help one maintain their correct calorie level where as skipping breafast many times cause people to eat more through out the day.

Remember, an empty stomach can spoil your agenda for the day. So fill your breakfast with vitamins and minerals also including all the required nutrients to nourish your body in the morning and through out the day as well.

Breaking - the - fast:

Make sure you break your fast (eat breakfast) with a balanced and wholesome diet to keep you active through out the day. Your breakfast should also have sufficient calories that can be converted to energy for the whole day. Additionally, there should be an adequate amount of protein, carbohydrates, fat as well as revitalizing vitamins and minerals to restore and recharge all lost energy. Add a cup of milk or yoghurt and stay away from gastric disorders the whole day through. A glass full of fresh fruit juice is also an amazing energy booster. A good breakfast means a blend of starch and sugar which you can get from whole wheat bread, fruit juices, cereals and oats. These are a rich source of fiber also.

Make it a habit to eat your breakfast daily and on time for an active day and a healthy life.
