10 Great Party Dips and What to Serve Them With

Each of these recipes requires a dairy base of one brick of softened Philadelphia Cream Cheese and eight ounces of sour cream beaten together until smooth.

See below for preparation instructions for Pita Chips, Toast Points or Garlic Bread.

Avocado Dip

Dairy Dip Base

2 Chopped Avocados

½ Chopped Red Onion

Garlic Salt to Taste

Serve with prepackaged tortilla chips like Tostitos Bowls.

Peachy Dip

Dairy Dip Base

2 Chopped Peaches

¼ Cup Chopped Toasted Pecans

2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar

Serve with Ginger Snaps or Nilla Wafers.

Tropical Dip

Dairy Dip Base

1 Cup Chopped Mandarin Oranges

¼ Cup Shredded Coconut

1 Tablespoon Finely Shredded Lemon Peel

Serve with Nilla Wafers.

Spinach Dip

2 Cups Chopped Spinach

1 Tablespoon Parmesan Cheese

Pepper to Taste

Serve in a bread bowl, with Bagel Chips or with Toast Points.

Thai Dip

1 Cup Chopped Peanuts

1 Tablespoon Thai Chili Sauce

1 Teaspoon Lime Juice

Serve with prepackaged Pita Chips.

Garden Veggie Dip

1 Cup Chopped Cucumber

1 Cup Chopped Tomatoes

¼ Cup Chopped Fresh Chives

Serve with Pita Chips or Bagel Chips. For a great low carb treat, use sliced cucumber chips instead!

Berry Dip

2 Cups Sliced Strawberries

2 Tablespoons Strawberry Preserves

Fresh Mint to garnish

Serve with Nilla Wafers. For a fun fruity snack, serve with melon and/or apple slices.

Curry Dip

1 Cup Chopped Smoked Almonds

1 Cup Diced Dry Fruit Mix

1 Tablespoon Curry Powder

Garlic Salt to Taste

Serve with Pita Chips.

Cobb Dip

Dairy Dip Base

1 Cup Chopped Bacon Bits

1 Cup Finely Chopped Celery

¼ Cup Crumbled Blue Cheese

Serve with thinly sliced toasted garlic bread or Pita Chips. For a low carb approach, serve with sliced cucumber chips.

Deviled Egg Dip

Dairy Dip Base

4 Chopped Hard Boiled Eggs

1 Teaspoon Chopped Fresh Dill

Lemon Pepper to Taste

Serve with Ritz Crackers or Pita Chips. For a low carb approach, serve with sliced cucumber chips.

To Prepare Pita Chips

Take four slices of pita bread and place on a baking sheet. Brush the tops lightly with extra virgin olive oil. Sprinkle with sea salt. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until crisp. Cut toasted pita bread into quarters or sixths and serve with dip.

To Prepare Toast Points

Lightly toast 10 slices of bread. While still warm, cut each slice of toast diagonally in a cross to create 4 toast triangles per slice.

To Prepare Garlic Bread

Mix ½ Cup melted butter with 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder. Mix well and set aside.

Take one loaf of French bread (batard sized) and slice into one inch wide circles.

Place each slice on a baking sheet and brush tops with the garlic/butter mixture.

Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until crisp.

Now, if you can't manage to throw something tasty together for an impromptu party well, I just don't know what to tell you! Dip, eat and enjoy!

You can substitute lowfat or nonfat sour cream and cream cheese if fat content is an issue.
